Default Psoriasis, anyone?

Has anyone had any success with Psoriasis whilst on Low Carb? There is a theory that P. may be caused or inflamed due to a "leaky gut" and that eating traditional foods as on Paleo / Neanderthin is beneficial.

Haven't noticed a change in myself yet, any other flakies on the forum?

I am ok as long as I dont eat too many eggs. Seems that the more I eat, the worse it gets. I am just catching on to this one though. I have reduced them and it is barly noticeable now. I want to up the eggs in a week to see if it does indeed cause a bad flare up.

Hi

I don't have psor... but I have had eczema for about five years. I have been able to more readily keep it under control now on Atkins. I was using steroids to fix it some four years ago, but now I can keep it mostly under control, using Nivea skin cream in the wonderfully dry, cold Canadian winters. My skin always clears up in the summer (very humid here, sometimes adding a "humidex" of an additional 10C!!).

Now that you mention it, yes. My tiny patch of Psoriasis (a particularly persistant patch under my toe nail) is clearing up quite nicely since I've been Low Carbing.

Cheers

My diet does not effect my psoriasis at all. Right now is the worst it has ever gotten. I got some Olux foam from the derm and used it for 2 weeks, it took it away alright but now it's back and worse than ever.

Thanks for the messages. I've just stocked up on steroids and daivonex (u.s. Dovonex) to see if I can knock it back, then go back to sunbathing (heaps of sun here in Queensland!). Trouble is that it takes quite a few hours out of the week by the time I drive to the beach, park, walk to a deserted spot so I don't scare the kids ....

("oh you poor man") I hear you say..

If I can clear the P I might start experimenting with the eggs etc.

How's West Yorkshire? I was born in Pontefract and often make real Yorkshire pudding for my non LC family members.. real yorkshire pudding in a big pan, not the poofy little individual ones that the non-Yorkshire people make.

Cheers

Lovely actually, even the weather isn't too bad at the mo. Funnily enough I'm originally from Whyalla, South Australia. Left OZ about 10 years ago. My dad was a Yorkshireman (10 pound pom) so it really was like coming home. Yes, I miss a good Yorkshire pud :-)

cheers
