Wow! That's wonderful to hear!

Default Wikipedia & Good Calories, Bad Calories

I noticed that the Wikipedia does not currently have an entry about the book Good Calories, Bad Calories.

that's a shame. it would be great to have a well-written review/synopsis about the book and its major theories/claims in the Wikipedia.

anyone interested about the task? does anyone have enough Wikipedia-experience to at least make a skeleton of the page?

I was thumbing through GCBC yesterday and caught something I had missed during my previous TOTAL readings. In the sugar chapter....the part about FRUCTOSE INDUCED HYPERTENSION.

How did I miss that??? I wish he would have expanded on that as well.

FRUIT can cause high blood pressure.

Well... I think if you asked him about eating whole fruit he'd probably say it is ok in moderation (seems like I heard him say that somewhere) but that jamming fructose sweetened beverages and every other manufactured food is the issue. When you think of all the sugar people eat, plus the HFCS... that's a ton of fructose. I think he gave an example somewhere of eating like 200 apples a day.

But for people who hadn't seen it before it's all new and it's all very insightful and helpful, just as it was for those of us who experienced it the first time!

I think it's great that it's being re-enjoyed and learned from!

I just re-read this whole thread. And the funny thing is, that years later, the primary lesson I have learned is that Regina was right all along.

The nutrients, starting with protein but including all nutrients vital, may be the bottom line. Of body-driven food intake, of health in general.

Lowcarbing but still being deplete in several amino acids (e.g. those you'd find in gelatin, not muscle meats), and staying very-VLC for long periods (at least for me and some--not all!--other women I see online) doesn't seem to be ideal.

Getting enough nutrients starting with AA's, while keeping insulin low and steady enough to allow the body to release fat, is what years more of reading has brought me back to concluding. Not that I didn't have the thought before, but I never saw it as the huge issue I do now.
