" These twin epidemics , obesity and diabtes, were clearly the result of the low fat, high-carbohydrate diet that was being preached to the public as gospel."

Has it really changed??

" But I knew very well that I couldn't stand being hungry for very long. I had too big an appetite and too little willpower, two facts that havent changed much."

The story on my life, too.

" Exercise has enormous bnefits for your health, and will speed your weight loss! "

Someday.

“Neither approach (restricting calories or restricting carbohydrates) should be condemned by press releases in the absence of an impartial scientific evaluation of their comparative long-term and short-term effects based upon systematic clinical observations of a large sampling of individuals who have actually followed them.”

What a concept!

Thank you! I couldn't figure out why my bg was way up & why I'm so hungry - but I'm going thru a lot a stress right now.

Wish I could get rid of the stress & anxiety as easily as I've gotten rid of the worst carbs.

I like that quote, and yeah, me too. I'm just snapping out of it now. Reeling myself back in after climbing the ladder and nearly falling off of it.

"What is the explanation for the blind eye that has been turned on the flood of medical reports on the causative role of carbohydrates in overweight, ever since the publication in 1864 of William Banting's famous "Letter on Corpulence"? Could it be related, in part, to the vast financial endowments poured into the various departments of nutritional education by the manufacturers of our refined carbohydrate foodstuff?"

Matter of fact, willpower doesn't even enter into the dietary transition dynamic, because the beauty of Atkins or Low Carb or Keto is that one eats to satiety, always. There's never a limit on calories, just the type of food one eats to get their calories. Easiest WOE I've ever experienced.

Atkins since 1972, you know I agree with all these comments.

Caution: Don't wait!
Nothing prepared me for being 73. Postmenopausal elderly females are never studied, so there's no help in sight for my plight. If I discover my "magic bullet" I'll post it in my J.

yes, I second the advice to not wait.
I wasted too many years indulging in carbs, and having poor health as a result.

“There is no better example of the weakness of our dominant medicine than its clearly ineffective War On Cancer. By the same token, there is no better example of the superiority of complementary, alternative medicine than its management of this dread disease. We are equally concerned about whether mainstream medicine's demand for proof works to maintain it at its current level of ineptitude.” Robert Atkins

“Well, I would never do a study because I'm a practicing physician. I mean, all I do is treat people.” Dr. Atkins

Fortunately, Dr. Atkins treated many people successfully in his clinic, educated even more people with his books, and later met with Dr. Westman, who was inspired to do a major study.
