2 mango cheeks, 1 banana, 1 cup orange juice and 4 tablespoons of non-fat yoghurt - can any1 tell me how many calories would be in this?

- I drink alot of V but have cut down lately due to wanting to lose weight, but is V ok to drink while trying to lose weight?

Hello again,

Um, low carbers don't need to count calories, but we do need to count carbs.
Your smoothie is hideously high in carbs, so definitely unsuitable.

How about choosing a plan, then you will have a much better idea of what is suitable to eat?

Only you can decide which plan will suit you best. That's why i suggest you look through the summaries in "PLans." Atkins or Protein Power seem to give the quickest results, so onew of those may be a good place to start.

As for the V, its suitability will depend on what the ingredients are. Can you give me the list of ingredients, as well as the info (particularly calories and carbohydrates) from the nutritional panel?

Cheers,

Roz

Total carbohydrates 39.2, all of which is sugar. A resounding no.

Sorry mate, but a low carb eating plan means no more sugar, or only miniscule amounts in such things as mayonnaise.

I believe there is a sugar-free variety of V (or another popular high energy drink). I'll just take a look and see if I can find its info....

... ok, in one bottle there are 0 cals and 0.4g carbs.

Maybe you could make that switch? And how is your plan research going?

iamvinhy,

you will loose weight if you follow the 'way of eating' properly. Initially it will be a bit of water weight, but you should be burning fat in no time! With any weight loss, the amount per week, depends on age, sex, BMI, metabolism etc etc

Just be aware that you will have to merate your carbohydrates for the rest of your life to maintain your 'health benefits' and 'weight'. But that is the key to success with this 'way of eating' it's very easy to maintain and to keep losing (in my case) because you will have no hunger.

Good Luck, and let us know how you go!

I'm planning to lose my fat by increasing my muscle so my metabolism will increase, but am also looking to have healthy meals instead of takeaway.

I heard that by doing the Atkins diet, my body will burn the proteins that I consume and also my body fat due to the fact that I am not consuming carbs, is this correct?

viny

Best thing would do is to get a couple of the low carb books and 'bone up' on what happens.

Basically ketosis is the process you are reffering to. It's quite complex to discribe and I'm not an expert, but but lowering your carbohydrate level to a cetain point you body fat and dietry fat is utilised to make ketones.

ketones are much more efficient that carbs for running your body.

Hi all,

Vinhy, as LC Dave said, Atkins is a way of eating for life, not a diet. Just make sure you are prepared for that kind of commitment before you start (or you'll just go up-down-up-down which I believe is worse for your body not to mention the damage it does to your mental state).

Then, or at the same time, get the book. It's very informative. Read all the pages, not just the ones with the instructions on Induction. It's so much more effective when you understand exactly what is going on.

And LC Dave, as I've been taught in class, ketones aren't a more efficient source of energy. Glucose is the most efficient and easy to break down to use. This efficiency is why you often don't need as much cals as you're consuming and you store the rest as fat. Hence, a low fat diet must be restrictive. Ketones take quite a lot of energy to be produced, hence LC restriction levels are much higher and most people need not pay attn to these unless very close to goal and struggling.

Visit your local library and hire out a few books like atkins and protein power! Read up and then make a formal decision about which plan is best for you!

Remember this is a way of life and it is a great way of life at that so please please please read some books before you start......and stay away from the smoothies and "v" please!!

BEST WISHES!!!!!!
