Default Custum foods

Hi,

Im trying to add a danish brand of chocolate into MyPlan. The stats for it is this:
100 gram serving;
460 kcal
5 protein
46 gram carbs ( 43 grams maltitol/maltose) (dietary fiber is 7 but allready subtracted in Denmark)
36 grams fat
If i enter it as is in the Custom food i get this:

The nutritional date you have entered are incorrect. Please make sure to enter valid data.

You have entered 460 calories, but the data entered totals to 528 calories. The formula to calculate calories is as follows:

Calories = Carbs x 4 + Protein x 4 + Fat x 9 + Alcohol x 6.93

The data you entered comes to:

Calories = 528 = 46 * 4 + 5 * 4 + 36 * 9 + 0 * 6.93 = 528

Possible reasons are:

1. You did not enter the label data accurately, re-check to ensure accuracy

2. The label may have listed carbs by weight (including fiber) and not by difference. In this case, subtract the fiber from the carb count

3. The label is incorrect, or contains hidden carbs.

Then i tried subtracting the maltitol to get 3 grams of carbs and still it says im off. Then i tried to use fitday and it accepts both version.
As i use this sf chocolate for a lot of desserts and stuff it woule be greatly appreciated if you could help me somehow

Thanks

It might be that you need to count part of the carbs from the malitol. In general, most people actually digest roughly 50% of carbs from that sugar alcohol.

That's the only idea I've been able to come up with, anyway.

Hi Kisal,
I have to take more than half before it accepts it. I hope someone has an answer for me thoug. Its pretty annoying not to be able to count it for what its "really" worth.

The problem is that only the manufacturer can answer the question accurately, as they each make up their own rules as to how tyey count carbs, and what to subtract. The error message simply tells you their numbers are bogus, and you need to count the carbs to match the published calorie count. There is a sticky posted for more details.
