This is from today's SBD Daily Dish:
Quote:
Getting Back on Track After Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving's over, for better or worse — now what? Even if you strayed from the eating principles of the South Beach Diet, you can always get back on track. Here are four steps to help you regain your footing.
1. Clean your kitchen. Make sure no unhealthy foods (like highly processed chips and sweets) have crept back into the cupboards over the holiday. Take a trip to the grocery store to replenish your healthy snacks, such as low-fat cheese, fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
2. Return to Phase 1. If you overindulged, you may have to go back to Phase 1 in order to eliminate cravings. Fortunately, the South Beach Diet is a flexible plan that accommodates real life. In other words, you can alternate between the three Phases as necessary — by going back to the strictest Phase when you need to get back on track, for example, or stepping into Phase 2 or 3 so you'll have more choices during the holidays or vacations.
3. Move it. In the weeks ahead, remember that some exercise is better than none, so if you don't have time to fit in a 30-minute workout, do what you can when you can.
4. Get ready for the next holiday. Christmas, Hanukkah, and New Year's are just around the corner. Take the lessons you learned from Thanksgiving and use them to plan your next holiday celebration. If you keep your Thanksgiving failures and successes in mind, you'll be better prepared for the road ahead.

I hope that all who celebrated Thanksgiving, had a very good holiday. I enjoyed mine as I went out to dinner with a good friend so it was relatively stress free.

I drink a bit too much wine, ate all the food that was served to me, ate 2 pieces of their home baked bread and had pecan pie for dessert. I felt totally stuffed when it was over and have not felt that way in a very long time...nor do I want to feel that way again any time soon.

I made a big pot of turkey/veggie soup on Thanksgiving. It came out really yummy! I really like having a good soup in my fridge! For the occasion, I used wings, legs and thighs for the soup......yikes! thats a lot of fat!!

I am so thankful to the SBD as it this plan that has taught me how to eat in a balanced and healthy way.

Thanks for the new thread Judy.

I will be posting my next weigh-in on Tuesday. Between Thanksgiving (I didn't do badly but definitely had more carbs than on a normal day) and TOM, I'm sure I will not like the numbers I see over the next couple of days.

May I join? My weight on 11/24 was 310. Will weigh in the AM. My Dad has inspired me to give 100% to SBD. He's lost 50 pounds since May and looks and feels awesome! This is the first time in a long time that I've been excited about starting a plan. I've done what I can based on what I was able to read of his book while visiting this week. Now we are home and I can start in earnest.

Welcome Melissa!

Of course you can join us.

If you want the updated food lists and meal plan charts , they are on the very 1st page of my journal for you to print up and use as you learn to eat this way. Just click on my journal button.

If you want to be in the weighin, all you need to do is add your name to the list in alphabetical order. Most of us weighin on Mondays but some weeks, we weighin when we like what we see on the scale...if you know what I mean.

My journey was long(and someitmes hard) but I stuck with it and have changed the way I eat permanently....I wish the same for you.

OK changed my mind - I'm going to record my weigh-in today, like I normally do, just to keep it "real". (Not too bad, really, considering that it was Thanksgiving week AND TOM.) But I reserve the right to change it if it comes back down in the next day or two. LOL

Welcome Melissa glad you joined us on the Beach.

Donna Thanks. I was going to wait and post my weight tomrrow just to have lower.
But you inspired me to "Keep It Real" too.
I was down to last week weight over the weekend but treated myself with some popcorn last nite while watching a movie. So I know it will be gone soon.

Have a great week Everyone.

Darn you "Keeping it Real" People! I'm so mad at myself that I wanted to keep this number hidden for awhile and now look what you made me do...

You made me post it anyways!

Sorry Char - didn't mean to start a trend, I just didn't want to kid myself. But I see my honesty is contagious.

I can barely sit still for the excitement. I went shopping today, and I got my books from the library. I can only hope I can keep this up.

Happy Hump Day Everyone
Donna I really wanted to tell you Thanks again. Keeping It Real should be our new motto. Glad we are all being honest.

I'm feeling crappy today, have a cold coming on. So I'm sure I'll drop weight as I don't feel like eating. So going to have a lot of soup and hot tea (decaf) as thats about all my throat will take.

Have a good day my friends.
