Default What is "Soured" Cream?

Hi all
Made a Cheese Bread last night from a receipe I found in an LC Book. It called for soya flour, whey protein & "soured" cream. Is the cream just our normal "sour cream", ie Pauls or Dairy Farmers. Tasted dry and disgusting! Was real disappointed as I am desperate to find something else other than steak/bacon/eggs etc, etc. for breakfast.
Also, is the whey protein what I have seen referred to as "protein shakes"?
Thanks
...Pam

Hi Pam, Im from NZ and the sour cream we get is not dry so not sure its the same. Ours comes in pots like cottage cheese andis the consistancy of yogurt. I undersatnd you can replace with ordinary full fat cream with a squeeze of lemon juice as that will in affect 'sour' and thicken the cream. Makes a nice dressing too with a little sweetener, pepper and salt.
The whey portein powder is the stuff you make the shakes from yes just check though as they vary wildly in carb count so be sure to get one with only a couple of carbs per serve.
hope this helps

Hi Pam,

I think the Pommies refer to sour cream as "soured." Was it an English book?

Anyway, yes, they just mean ordinary old sour cream.
