Hey Michiganders,

It's great to see a mix of Yoopers and Trolls on here. I'm currently in my last semester of school in Ann Arbor but my family lives in Sterling Heights. I grew up in Troy and Utica (Shelby Twp.) and our family had a restaurant in downtown Birmingham so I spent a lot of my childhood there too.

Hi there, kayanl (and everyone else!). Mmm, restaurant in downtown Birmingham. There are some good ones. Count me among the Trolls -- Royal Oak -- but I just moved to Michigan a bit over a year ago, so I'm still getting settled.

Hi! I am glad to see there are some Yoopers on here! I just moved to the Newberry area from the SE Ohio/Toledo, OH area. Definitely a different life style up here, but I am adjusting! I grew up in a small town in WV, so I am no stranger to rural living.

Thank You for saying Hi!! And Hi back! And yeah how cool is that right?

I wonder if the others are feeling the insane pull of the fresh strawberries coming out of the fields right now! OH man I had two small ones yesterday, oh they were so good, and now my boss is making strawberry cake and pie! EEEE!! It's a good I'm on this diet or I'd be sugar-ed up and gaining weight. :P

I do Protein Power & strawberries are ok...in moderation. I usually eat 2-3 with breakfast, or some cantaloupe. I justify a little more if I get a lot of exercise in...

How many carbs a day do you aim for (or aim under) ? Cantelope oh that would be wonderful. I'm doing under 20 a day so fruit has really been out. And that protein powder, I see a lot of people talk about it, it's good? And no carbs?

I haven't really used any protein powder, I am trying mostly to eat whole foods (emphasis on trying). Protein Power usually gets you around 40 carbs a day, but a lot of days I am at 20. I can even get around 20-30 adding some fruit (cantaloupe and strawberries are pretty low carb). I just usually keep my fruit servings small, i.e. 3 strawberries, a few cubes of cantaloupe, etc. Really the difference in protein power and atkins is that PP doesn't care where you get your carbs from, as long as you stay under a certain amount. The other main difference is a focus on getting at least your minimum protein requirement each day.

40 carbs a day? Whew, way too many for me, thank-you for the info.

I had two small strawberries last night for my desert - DIVINE! Who needs SF candy when S.B's are around, oh yummy

I'm getting a ton of protein doing atkins anyways, all that meat and eggs really adds up you know?

Thank you for your reply, 'preciate it

So, is everyone else from the Peninsula State sick of the cold and white stuff?

We are about due for our 2 weeks of summer soon, aren't we?

Hey all I see no one has posted in a while. Just wanted to add another Michigander to the list! Born and raised in Flint, moved out to Lapeer County some 21 years ago and love it here. I have been off my program for a few weeks now, decided today is a good day as any to restart. Nice to see others from MI on here.

Wow over 4 years since anyone has posted here. I'm from Traverse City, MI. Home of the Cherry Capital of the World and the Traverse City Film Festival. Both of which I try to avoid, since I grew up here and am just really sick of the tourists. Anyway. Are there any other Michiganders here?
