Default feeling depressed over my weight

I have been 140 lb for almost 3 weeks now. My waist, chest, calves, thighs and hips have gotten a bit bigger while my forearms and biceps got a bit smaller. I think I might be doing too much cardio cuz I just wanna lose all the fat I have. I'm definitely losing motivation here and feeling quite depressed about this.

The thing that bugs me the most is that I'm looking larger now than I was three weeks ago, even though my weight's basically the same. I guess I just became so obsessed over my looks.

Relax, take a deep breath and step away from the scale and put the tape measure away.

You may be right about the cardio, and more importantly relax before you drive yourself crazy. Take a week or two and focus on how far you have come and not so much on how far you have to go.

thanks

I decided i'm gonna do LISS cardio 50 minutes, 4 times a week, instead of the high intensity one hour sessions 6 days a week.

It's normal to feel a little bit depressed when your expectations do not match reality. I think it's important to stay strong, don't be discouraged.

Keeping yourself motivated can be quite tricky, it takes a lot of determination and support from others, so it's great that you're opening up about your problems on this forum. Although I can't really help you with your problem (maybe you're exercising too much and your muscle mass is rapidly increasing) I can share some tips about staying motivated, from my personal experience with weight loss.

Always award yourself a little gift after each week of dieting (if you decide to start a diet). It could be your favorite piece of pie (a small piece of course), or a book, a bracelet, a little something to put a smile upon your face. Avoid anything that can make you feel guilty afterwords though.

Stop weighting yourself too often, because you'll end up obsessing over a number, and that's not good. Use a quantum scale (you should be able to find one online), it does not display your weight it simply records it and lets you know when your weight starts changing again.

Another thing I found motivating is buying clothes a few sizes smaller. I was so eager to fit into those clothes that I actually stuck to my diet.
Talking to other people who are going through the same things you are is also great for your morale.

Most important of all, don't obsess too much about your body image and keep a positive attitude.

Good luck and I hope this helped.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Since my last post in this thread, I came back on track and lost 12 pounds since.

I've started doing P90X with lowcarbing on dec the 1st. I'm getting great results so far and I'm pretty sure by the end of this program, I'll have reached my goals. Even though I have a whole cheat day every week, I find that I still lose weight. I guess it's cuz of the intense P90X workouts and the almost perfect diet

That's wonderful news ifrit89! Congratulations on getting out of your slump. A girlfriend of mine has been P90X'ing for years now, and says she never gets bored with the workouts, is always challenged, and my gosh does she look FANTASTIC. Keep up the good work!
