Plan: Atkins Induction... AGAIN

Default 2nd day of no smoking

Got through 5 pieces of Nicotine Gum yesterday instead of the usual 15 cigarettes.

Had one piece already this morning.

Suppose it helps that I am completely broke and couldn't buy any even if I wanted some

I was always "I'll quit smoking when I'm this weight" as I was so terrified of putting weight on and ending up weighing over 11st again. Well now I don't care ! I'm back on Atkins today and I'm determined to stick at it, I want to be slimmer for Christmas.

Why I even started smoking again I don't know, I never smoked whilst pregnant.

Yea, funny how we tell ourselves there is a better time to quit just down the road from where we happen to be standing...

You are doing great. You hang in there for 4 days and you have the worst of it behind you.

Keep posting to us as you go through it.

Yea, it is amazing how fast you get frustrated or angry, isn't it? Withdrawl causes a short fuse. It gets better when you get over 'the hump' of not smoking.

I used the patch, and I took 3 days off work plus a weekend. I had 5 days - and I stayed home those 5 days - and I dealt with my bills and grocery shopping, paperwork, presents, errands, etc before those 5 days. I had food and movies stocked. No alcohol. I locked myself in for 5 days. It got me over the hump where I could deal with life's junk without having to smoke to get through it.

I am really lucky in that none of my friends smoke. I've never seen anyone quitting who could visit with an old friend, watch them smoke, and not end up bumming a cig from them. Ask your friends to not smoke around you for 6 months (or longer).

Hang out/do things where smoking is not allowed. It will calm your nerves to not have anyone smoking around you.

Keep quitting. The more you practice, the better you get at it. I've tried to quit every year for years, and it got easier with practice.
