And the advertising giants of the processed food industry know just how to manipulate the unsuspecting.

And with zillions of dollars of campaign funds (tacit bribes), they know how to get the government to help them.

Plus they get seats on the watchdog agencies that are supposed to protect us, and use those seats to promote their agenda and corporate profits.

And the general population is oblivious, and just goes by the memes they've had hammered into them.

You have to think for yourself, do your own research, and find out what works for you as an individual. But most people are more interested in ball games, idol gossip, fashion, and what's going to happen on the next episode of ________.

And even the TV shows we watch are covert advertisements.

I haven't watched TV since about 1990, so my reference is old. But I'm sure they are doing the same thing now, but with different goals.

When I was young, we had the ZPG (zero population growth) movement. It was our way of sustaining the earth.

Of course, corporate profits need endless growth. If the stock doesn't grow and grow and grow from one quarter to the next, the stockholders will jump ship.

Fewer children mean fewer customers which means our profits aren't going to grow and grow.

So almost every sitcom, drama, and other TV show had a woman saying "My biological clock is ticking" meaning that she better get pregnant before menopause. I heard this at least 10 times per day in the media.

Sure enough, another baby boom happened.

So now they are manipulating us about gluten, low fat, sports drinks, or whatever their profit-fueled agenda is.

And they are tailing us that cow farts and burps are ruining the air, when the truth is, the fertilizer industry emits 100 times more methane than all the cow burps and farts combined. And just look at the historic USA when zillions of Bisons roamed the west. The air was quite clean back then, wasn't it?

Yet people will repeat the falsehood, quit eating meat, and go for that over-fertilized, methane producing plant-based impossible burger diet, thinking they are actually doing something good for the planet.

Recently a woman who emigrated to the USA told us, "In Russia they force you to watch propaganda, here in this country, we do it voluntarily."

Sorry for the rant.

Bob

It was a lovely rant, Bob! Don’t apologize.

They sell the sizzle. I’d rather eat the steak

My own theory is that the whole food pyramid was the seamless melding of everything our parents were taught — eat your vegetables, good protein, get your calcium — and diverted it for agriculture and pharmacuetical profit.

Enshrining plant products and undercutting animal foods will only go so far because vegans are already dying from it. If we look, the ex-vegans are desperate enough to rethink their choices.

If, that is, they decide before their B-12 reserves run out. After that, the brain literally loses the ability to make decisions.

I think the nutritional puzzle we’re all handed lately, the kind that makes sick people like me scream in frustration because their body rejects FOOD… only to discover how much of it is not really food.

One thing to remember, is the food companies don't care about you, all they care about is profit.

So it's up to each one of us to do our own research, and not from the propaganda articles that flood the media.

Absolutely. I only mess up when I make a decision based on vague fears, that need to be examined for any support in the data.

What's sick is how so much of it completely contradicts my own lived experience. And yet, sometimes, I still fall for it.

When they just want to sell you something, they hire the best propaganda creators in the business. They have the skill to sell you what is bad for you while they are convincing you that what they are selling is good for you.

I'm old enough to remember, "Four out of five doctors recommend Camel cigarettes."

And they are much slicker about it now.
