Default Hello ______ I'm Carol.

I'm new, well not new, been reading for a while, just never posted before.

I am 22 years old. I was diagnosed with PCOS in May 2004 (this year). I am not on any medications as I don't have any medical insurance or ability to go right now. I am low-carbing, but any other advice to control the symthoms? until I am able to see the doctor again.

Was wondering also, I always had a bad reaction to Alcohol, do you think this has anything to do with PCOS? bad reaction as in drinking & turning into a blubbering idiot to the point of upmost embrassment.

Thank you.
(i posted this in the main low carb section, then decided to post here, since it's more about PCOS then low carb)

Your reaction to alcohol will worsen on a low carb way of eating. I once could handle alcohol, if I ate something with it. Aint true no more. I had one glass of wine with my meal today 3 hours ago and I can still feel it.

PCOS is insulin related. You may find more information on the diebetic boards such as Shwartzbein Principle, Berstein. Low carbing will help lower blood glucose and stabilize insulin. If you stay strict with this, you may not need meds. I am insulin resistant ( hypoglycemic ) but my symptoms have vanished soon after I began Atkins. Hope this helped a little.
