Default If someone has their period maybe 3-4 times a year...

But no other symptons other than maybe some slight weight gain, cramps etc. Is the likelyhood PCOS? What are the odds, high? Or could the symptoms be from a bunch of other causes?

There really is no way to answer that question. If you think you might have it, schedule an appointment with your doctor. I have had it all my life & no doctor tested me because I had 3 children with no problems getting pregnant. But.... I had every single other symptom. I am on glucophage now & just had 2 cycles all on my own 2 months in a row!! This is a first for me

This can be anything, not necessarily PCOS And the symptoms of PCOS may absolutely be different... Someone gains weight, others are thin, and the period may be 3-4 time a year by some other reasons etc. etc. Do visit your doctor, it will be much better than if we think out a lot of interesting diseases for you.

This is concerning a friend. She has an appointment with her doc. Just wanted some insight incase things with the doc are over looked. Having it overlooked is pretty common it appears.

I know two perople personally already with this issue, a third would be very strange indeed.

Yes, this may happen unfortunately...

It is even more confusing, when two different docs diagnose differently one and the same symptoms Visiting doctors may become such a nuisance, but what can we do without them?

Anyway, I wish your friend to cope with all health problems
