lets just say that I am out of shape.

Got on the bike! Yeah.... I actually got on! Rode 1/2 mile, not bad for being on it for the first time in FIVE YEARS...

Nicely done! First step toward creating a new, GOOD habit!

I've been toying with the idea of getting a bike. I recently started the Couch To 5k running program, and I love it. I haven't done it the past 2 weeks because of my gallbladder issue and being so sick. As soon as my surgery is behind me, it'll be back on track with that. I'd like to then work on the bridge to 10k portion, and add in biking. All in due time, I suppose.

The more you work it into your daily routine, the more you begin to crave it. I found that with the running. And let me tell you, I HATE running, which is why I started - I knew it would be just as much of a mental challenge as a physical one.

Good for you..want to try a road bike..gym bike is too easy, but then road running bores me to tears..so do the treadmill and increase the running. Discovered at least at my age, the nasty "e" word(exercise) has to become my new best friend.

I am working on that... found out all my workout clothing is too big (a good thing) but now I have to go out and get other.

I have my bike in the shop to get it tuned up.

Then I have to get my wrist looked at. I broke it in January and still have pain in it. My Dr. thinks a steroid injection into the site will help the pain.

Uhhhhggghhhh

Used to be I could hurt myself and be up and running in days... now its taking months.

Try these:
http://www.vitruvianrunning.com/

They're having a closing the business sale and for $25/pr it is a screaming deal. I love mine for cycling, walking, etc. (I am not a runner)

HOLEEEEE SH*T

Ok, they aren't kidding when they say that P90X is Xtreame.

Disk 2, seriously kicked my butt. I could only make it through 30 minutes of the disk before my body told me it was enough. My heart was pounding and I was WAY out of breath.

But I got 30 minutes in. Next time, who knows... 35 or 40 maybe 45 minutes of the hour.

As a friend here on the forum has in her tag:

PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION

One of my huge problems is I am a perfectionist. If I can't do it perfectly, I won't do it at all. This is a major break through for me on so many levels.

The first hurdle was the food, where I started considering when I went off plan due to emotional binges, instead of leaving saying it didn't work, I said, lets get back in the saddle.

Exercise, now when I can't finish a rep or a DVD...Its no big deal, I am doing something that I wasn't doing before.

That said... I am SORE, but I feel good.

John

Last week was a total of 16 miles

This week so far 4 miles with another 2 today, and possibly another 3.4 tonight depending on how I feel.
