My apologies if someone has already posted this info that I just happened across on the USDA website . Theoretically there was a press release about this put out on March 12th but I sure didn't see any news reports.

Overview

The process to update the Dietary Guidelines is under way.

In March 2019, the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services released a Federal Register notice announcing the first meeting of the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee. The notice also opens a public comment period that will remain open throughout the Committee’s deliberations, expected to last into 2020 (see Federal Register notice ).

The Committee will hold its first public meeting on March 28 and 29, 2019. The public will be able to register to attend the meeting in person or by webinar starting March 19. The public also may submit comments to the Committee starting March 12, 2019. Please go to the Federal Register notice to learn how to submit comments today and/or at any point throughout the Committee’s work.


Learn About the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee

USDA and HHS announced the appointment of 20 nationally recognized experts to serve on the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (see Press Release ).The independent Advisory Committee will review scientific evidence on topics and questions identified by the Departments and will provide a report on their findings to the Secretaries. Their review, along with public and agency comments, will help inform USDA and HHS’ development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Here is the list of members:

The Committee will hold its first meeting on March 28, 2019, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., and March 29, 2019, 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (see Federal Register notice announcing the first public meeting). The public can attend the meeting by webinar or in person, but must register prior to the meeting. Webinar registrants will receive webinar information prior to the meeting. For in-person participants, the meeting will take place at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, South Building, Jefferson Auditorium, 1400 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC 20250. Information on how to register to attend the meeting will be posted online on March 19, 2019.

The public may submit comments to the Committee starting March 12, 2019, and continuing throughout its work, expected to last into 2020. To learn how to submit public comments, please see the Federal Register notice .


Are any of y'all familiar with ANY of the names on the list??? I'm not. Time to do some digging into backgrounds and connections. Hopefully some of our friends at Diet Doctor will have time to attend the webinar.
