Default Light at the end of the tunnel?..

At this moment in time I have no idea what I weigh. Don't have the energy or the inclination to stand on the scales.

Its 4.20 am and i can't sleep for feeling nausious. Why am I feeling like this u may ask.. simple answer...

I'm pregnant

I'm scared, happy, optomistic, worried, annoyed and lots more. I've decided to jump to maintenance for the sake of the baby, and I hope with more foods allowed i will be able to keep the sickness away, or at the very least want to eat!

Anyone else out there been thru this? tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know there are several women on the boards who are going through what you are, and I think they all have decided to stick with maintenance until the baby comes. Since my "baby" is 22, I'm NOT planning on joining you!

Congratulations to you!

Yes, there have been other forum members that have had babies and resumed healthy LCing. Now if I could only remember who the heck they were???

If you haven't done so already, you might want to post your questions regarding prenancy in the General Low Carb area, as more people will see it.

Good luck, and best wishes to you!

Donald

congrats on the new baby coming. Some one in one of my exercise challenges is also newly preg and her doc was very supportive of low carbing while preg. I think She is either in the hold for the holidays or the TDC challenge.

Congratulations! I had a lot of nausea in the beginning of both my pregnancies, but both the nausea and overwhelming feelings of exhaustion ended by the beginning of the fifth month. The only thing I found that kept the nausea at all under control (and I still threw up at least once or twice a day) was eating at very frequent intervals. Although you may think you can't eat because you are nauseous, eating does generally help -- try small meals of easy to digest things. I don't think there is much you can do about the lack of energy except ride it out. I remember getting so exhausted by my commute to work that I had to lie down when I got there. That too passed!

It's all worth it in the end. My children (who are about to turn 14 and 18) have brought me joy and enriched my life in ways I could never have imagined before they were born. Midway through my first pregnancy I said that I would never go through that experience again, but I did and it was not an accident. Having and raising a baby/child is a wonderful experience.

Like Liz said, the best way I found to stave off the nausea was to eat a little bit every two hours. Even if it was just a piece of beef jerky or something. When your stomach is TOO empty, the acid starts to build up, causing nausea. That is what my doctor said. Another 9 pounds and I will be at my pre=pregnancy weight. Of course, my little bundle of joy is 6 years old now. {sigh}

Thank you everyone for the congrats. Was a bit of a surprise but its finally sunk in and I'm feeling much more postive about it.

The sickness still gets me down, but the way I'm looking at it is, if I'm being ill, it means everything with baby is normal... thats the only thing which seems to make this more bearable.

As for LC? well I'm hoping with a bit of time i can jump back on the wagon.. or at the very least, clamber back on!!
