Default "dieter's teas"--to help loose weight?

Hi all,
at my local health food store, they have a couple of herbal teas that are supposed to help you loose weight.... do they differ from regular tea and just banking on a gimic or do they actually have ingriedients that help? Has anyone tried them? I figured they might just help with cravings, but wasn't sure

Oh, do be careful trustycat! I tried some a long time back - I think the name was something like Laci Le Beau (not sure of spelling), and it came in a variety of flavors. The taste wasn't bad, but if you drank too much of it, you just couldn't stay close enough to the bathroom! Maybe I overdid it, I don't know! But if I have to be away from home, it's not something I'd venture to try! (Just a bit skeptical, I suppose!)

Look for Senna in the ingredient list... that's a powerful herbal laxative that can have some rather nasty side effects - cramping, diarrhea, bloating, etc. Lots of diet teas include it. Cascara Sagrada is another herbal laxative you might find in dieter's tea, but it's a bit milder than senna.

I've never found a diet tea that was an appetite suppressant... most are just laxative teas. I've seen some that are supposed to boost metabolism, although I doubt they really do.

Well, my mom uses these teas regularly for constipation - that should tell you something!
