Talking Asian vegetable salad

I had an awesome cucumber salad in a chinese restaurant, that I tried to recreate. I have never found a recipe that tasted quite right.

First I took toasted sesame oil and flavored it with red pepper flakes for several days. I made thick slices of seeded cucumbers, radishes, celery, jicama and marinated it in the flavored oil for a couple of days. I drained the oil, but saved it & added sweetened rice vinegar and a little soy sauce to the vegetables and let it continue marinating & then added the oil back. I'd make a huge amount and it would get better every day.

Go back to the Restaurant and ask for the recipe.

My wife is Chinese and many of her salads have either or all of the following; fresh ginger, garlic, red peppers and a touch of apple cider vinegar. Also, she doesn't use that much sesame oil.
