Default Fudge is the devil. I cheated. And gained 8 lbs.

I associate Cape Cod and summer vacations with fudge. Of course, this stems from childhood. If you've never been to the Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans, MA, avoid it like the plague because they have the best freakin' fudge and peanut butter cups in the world. They also have sugar-free chocolate, which is also REALLY delicious, but it's sweetened with maltitol, which gives me the runs.

I ate a little fudge everyday over 3 days. And I mean a little-two ounces each day. At least I exercised and stuck to healthy eating except for the fudge. And you know what? I felt like crap when I ate it. Anxious and jittery. And Ms. Metabolically-Challenged gained EIGHT POUNDS. I was 184 this morning.

Now I'm back to my normal eating and normal routine. I'm out of ketosis. This really stinks.

I made a lot of progress and ruined it with fudge.

Fudge.... mmmmmmmm. The stuff of inner-child fantasies! What wonderful memories I have of vacationing on the Cape and walking around with a box (a whole pound!) of penuche and gobbling it up like it was nothing!

Unfortunately my hips, tummy, rear end, etc.. all remember it as well...... lol

When was this??? You likely didnt gain 8 lbs of fat. Especially not if it was in just a few days, and it was your only indulgance. A good portion of that MUST be water.

I'm from Boston, btw, but I've never been to that place. Thanks for the warning!

Was you not able to drink as much water since you were on vacation? If not, that could be part of the gain. Anything with high salt intake also could be.

Don't fret about it. Just get back on plan.

I'm across the river in Cambridge.

The Chocolate Sparrow is in Orleans (elbow of the Cape above Chatham). It's off of 6A on Old Colony Way, which runs parallel to the bike trail.

I am bloaty so it is probably water weight. I lifted weights for 45 minutes today so I'm back on a roll trying to burn this crap out of my system!

This fudge is more creamy than sugary. I don't like the sicky sweet fudge that's typical of candy shops by the shore.

Default Just that little?

You ate only that little chocolate and gained 8 lbs!!! Wow, I gain easily so I better not even sniff chocolate anymore. But, not worries, you made a slip in the diet and now you're back on track. Looks like you were doing very well, now you can continue the great work. Good Luck.

Hi Canadian76,

Good luck to you too. It was the sugar, not the chocolate that did it! I eat unsweetened chocolate every now and then and it doesn't cause me to gain. I think I'm extremely metabolically resistant.
