Default Success at lowering FBGs to normal!

Last week I been testing my FBGs when I get up in the morning. And they are reading anywhere from 86-89 now.

this is from them being in the 140s before I started Dr R Berstein's plan!

I am extremely happy

Last 1-2 weeks I have lowered my carb intake further... I am probably eating around 10-17 carbs a day now, since I have given up chewing gum. About 2 carb in the morning. Switched to home made ham egg muffin quiche from a salad.

Can't wait to get the rest of the weight off... Then I can experiment with my carb counts and see what i can do with a maintenance mode in respects to weight and BG levels..

But for now I stay lower...

That is such awesome news! My post prandial bg levels are in the normal range (under 110) however, my fasting bg are still in the 140s. I have a problem using protein and fat only right before bed to hold me over. I started using cottage cheese again and apparently that level of carbs holds me over but I think I may need to give up dairy at least temporarily.

Sorry for the life story. I'm so glad your numbers are good!!!

Good for you!

You're one of my Good Good Examples - as opposed to the Good Bad Examples. Your success gives me hope - and so does my improving BG numbers.

I've been fasting for 4 days now and I can't seem to get my ketosis number higher than .2 mml - why?

I don't know, Thomas! You are a hard case you don't lose weight nor go into ketosis with fasting. 4 days isn't a long time, but you have basically been Keto for a year. Is there some metabolic function that does not switch to ketones easily...I have no idea...maybe teaser?

Helpfully, Butter Bob Briggs talks about TIME in his newest video. How long have you been on insulin? How long overweight? These impact the time involved.

Lovinita, we would love to hear how you are doing now.

Thomas, as Janet said, it may need more time. Maybe, a lot more time.

Think of it this way, though. Assume you were NOT eating low carb. What would be going on with your BGs, then?

Contrasting the results, when they're less than what we had wanted, with the known disaster of NOT following the plan, usually works for me.

Thomas, are you testing blood or urine?

It's at least possible you're burning the ketones and not excreting them in your urine.

Justin Jor,
After fasting again for one day I just took my BG and it was 75! Great but I took a ketone blood test and it was a .6 - better than a .2 I suppose.

Can't complain about that BG! And .6 IS in nutritional ketosis. Assume you are using a blood ketone meter now...also do you take the reading in evening? Ketones are lower earlier in day. "Optimal nutritional ketosis" is 1.5-3 according to Phinney, but it does take the body some time to adapt so looking good at 5 days.
