I quit smoking in August 03. Except for the occasional one while drinking I was doing great. About 4 weeks ago I started again, it went from 1 every 3 days to 2-3 every other day and now I am at 2-3 everyday. I would like to say I quit right now, but that's only until the next one. Does anyone have some good tips or some suggestions before I get too deep once again?

Hello Amy.. I am quitting this month so by far no exspert. I have only tried to quit once before. Once I drank alchohol it was all over. The urge to smoke was nuts when I drank. Just a thought

My dh quit 4 times. This time he is smoke free going on 2 years now.He no longer drinks tho. Maybe try using a twizzle stick to chew on when drinking? I wish you all the luck

Hi Angel, I have officially quit again (5 times) this morning. I found some of the nic gum in the drawer from last time and will use that when needed. You make an excelent point about the drinking. I don't have an issue with drinking and eating but I do with drinking and smoking. I guess it's one more thing to avoid while I try to gain control of the not smoking.

Hey there, how is it going? I was drinking on Sat. night and guess what?...yep I had a couple cigs. But I quit that night and it's almost been 3 days. You probably already know but, after 3 days the nicotine is out of your body so from day 3 on it's all willpower.

I am not doing so good today. I keep questioning myself, why do I care? Everyone else around me doesn't care. I am thinking this way about cigs and food. I almost had one last night and right now I can't stop thinking about it.

Thanks for the support Angel, I am doing ok now. I really don't know what came over me but I got through it and need to take an hour at a time. I remember when I first quit, the hardest part was jumping in the car. I always lit up when I jumped in the car. Now that place would of been really hard to avoid

LOL, yah the car is a point for me too. Since smoking in the house was a non o, anytime I go out side brings memories of a ciggy, LOL. I know it sounds stupid but man it's true.. Ohh, and when on the phone, since I use to take the phone out back and puff away,uhg... BAD habbit.

Hiya's Amy

I wish you the strength to resist them this weekend. Im doing better every day. Lil at a time. My stressful time is usually in the morning so I go on quitnet.com and chat with my morning coffee till the urge passes.
