Default weights and measures question

Hi.

What is refered to as a cup in weight terms?

Example - a cup of mushrooms..... what does it mean in grams or even ozs.... I am so confused about this....

A prompt respons would be hugely appreciated as I think I have been doing the cup thing wrong!

Thanks

Tina

Thumbs up Cups?

Hi Tina

The cups thing is a difficult one. A cup is a volume measure that equates to 8 fluid ounces. However, there is no direct read across to solid measures as each pack in differently into a cup.

I have found the following link in the recipes section which asks basically the same question as yourself. You may find the responses more informative. Here is another link.

I have brought myself a set of cup measures, but have not really used them.

Do you belong to Fitday? Here many of the food items are given in oz and also cups, so you may be able to look at both and then work out how they compare.

Have a great weekend.
