My family knew within ten pounds, they feel the difference when hugging. But with work colleagues and other friends the dam broke just a few weeks ago, about 40 pounds, why? Because I got my hair cut!!! it was really just a trim, but suddenly they could SEE me!!

First off, who are we? Chopped liver?!? Don't we count?

They notice. They just don't want to say anything yet. After I had lost about 25 pounds people started to notice, a few. Unfortunately if they say something when you've lost a good bit of weight but are still overweight, it's implied that you used to be really, really overweight.

Edit to add.... I should have read the other responses first.

40 lbs before people started noticing.
And some still don't have a clue
(Did you do anything to your hair?)

But I am glad about that.

I don't really like to discuss LC.
or my weight... or my loss ...
And I don't ever give out any numbers. LOL

I am doing this for myself and my health and my family,
and if nobody ever would notice,
I'd be completely fine with it.

The first time around (1998 from 207 down to 156)
I was disappointed that nobody noticed until about 30 lbs were off,
but I also remember that back then almost 80% of all conversation
was about food and lowcarb and weightloss (because it was a rather
unknown eating-concept in Europe) , so people asked a zillion questions
and I had to constantly defend myself and explain myself and kind of prove that
I was not doing something unhealthy.

I can perfectly do without that kind of attention

This time, I just do what I do and I'm happy.
Well, I'm fifteen years wiser now.

Nice thread and interesting reading.
Thanks
Gwabyn

I wouldn't have thought of that before, but I guess a sudden diagnosis ofdiabetes or something could cause rapid weight loss that wouldn't be something to celebrate!

I went Atkins due to a very high risk of cancer. I scared the crap out of my Dr's and nurses with the rapid weight loss. They'd look away and say, "Have you been trying to lose weight?" afraid of my answer.
