Hard to believe, but it's been three years for me! I did gain about 10 back but lost it again....it's about finding the balance that works for you. It took many years and many plans, but I finally found my balance

Still 226 pounds down. I did gain about 6 ponds off my low since my skin removal but alot of that is likely muscle since I work out 5 days a week. still can't see my ab muscles.

I have lost 115# in just over three years with two major relapses. I deal with this as sugar and hybrid carbohydrate "addiction". I got off from cigarettes and alcohol and gambling and drugs over twelve years ago. This was the hardest addiction of all to break but I did it. I eat as much as I want and I don't exercise at all. I just eat the right foods and stay low low carb for the most part and drink only water. I eat lots of fat.

I eat very low carb too. I started to exercise since it didn't seem
like I was dropping very fast. So far 4 lbs. in 13 days. And I don't
cheat. So maybe at 52, just going to be slow? Always have been a
slow loser

Congrats on being clean from the last frontier of addictions....carbs. I used to shake my head when people would say,"This is worse then being an alcoholic, they can stop drinking alcohol, but you have to eat!" I think they are very similar! Alcoholics knew where their demons lay, but most food-a-holics never knew it was the carbs that were their demons. They just thought is was ALL FOODS! But how easy is it to know that I can never put that first piece of cake in my mouth, or sugary soda in my cup! I can be free from my demons, just as an alcoholic can be clean and sober, so can I>

I am a poster child for the ugly rebound. Started off at 410 8 years ago. By mid 2005, I was down to 210.

By that time my metabolism had slowed to nothing so it was less and less food, more and more exercise to get little gains. So then it all crashed.

Was back up to 324 in Dec 2008 before deciding to be more proactive in stopping the gains. So in January 2010, I'm down to 295 and would like to drop 25 lbs this year.

I guess my learning point will be that loosing 60+ lbs per year was too much too fast for me. I never learned how to keep my weight steady...it was always either up or down.

So now, I'm going to slow it down to 20 lbs or so per year until I get to 250....then try to keep it there for a year before going down even slower, say 10 lbs per year.

Which plans have you read up about? I see you say your plan is mixed and I'm curious about how you go about it.

I was once up to speed on all the LC plans.....back when south beach was the new kid

As part of my trying not to be so strict and slow everything down, I'm doing LC not so much as LC, but as a high protein diet. So I get 80-100 grams of carbs per day and take a day off once a week if I had a good week.

As far as the mixed goes, when I'm getting stagnent on protein, I'll toss in a few days of low-fat instead.

What I'm doing isn't for everybody, and I understand the Biggest Loser mentality of lose it RIGHT NOW all too well.

For the people just starting, LC works really well for most people......just take your time and learn along the way.
