Default Confused on how to read this label

So I was at the store today looking to buy some coconut milk
I looked at the label and it said 20g or carbs per serving
In the breakdown it said 0g of sugar and 0g of fiber.
So do I take that as 20g of net carbs per serving?

Without seeing the complete label info it is hard to say, but I would assume that is 20 net carbs per serving.

If you did buy it, can you list all the nutrition info from the label and list the ingredients so it can be checked out in case there is an error?

Do you know what brand of coconut milk it is? The nutrition facts might already be online.

Definitely something wrong in the numbers as fat has about 9 calories per gram and protein and carbs have about 4.

If the label was correct each serving should have
fat 6g x 9 cals = 54
carbs 19g x 4 = 76
total calories = 120!

I have a question on coconut milk. I've seen many places where people use coconut milk instead of heavy whipping cream in their shakes. This coconut milk has carbs where heavy whipping cream is zero. Just wondering why one would choose coconut milk at all? Is it because it's less fat? Maybe someone could clear this up for me. Thanks, Carol

For me it adds extra flavour to my protein shake.
Chocolate coconut protein shake yum yum
instead of the bland milk chocolate protein shake

Thanks deity for the note. I love anything coconut, so using this might be something I'd like. I'll have to look at the carb count on the cans the next time I'm shopping to see if I can spare the carbs. I'm trying to stick with 20 or less per day.
I've been having pumpkin cream shakes for 3 days and loving them....so far have lost 3 pounds. I was using frozen strawberries, but looked at the carb count vs. pumpkin and it's a lot less. Taste just like pumpkin pie. Even my dh thought it was delicious. Carol

My coconut milk label shows 2 g carb per 1/4 cup whereas the whipping cream label shows 1 g carb per 1 Tbsp so, 4 Tbsp per 1/4 cup means 4 g carbs per 1/4 cup of the whipping cream. Check you labels - you might have to look for a different brand of coconut milk.

I'm with Elizellen on this. Most brands of unsweetened coconut milk that I've ever seen have < 2g carb per 60 ml (1/4 cup). Perhaps the label printer left out a decimal point, and your coconut milk actually has 1.9g carbs??

None of the ingredients listed are sugar carbs. Guar gum is a type of fiber; it helps to thicken and keeps the coconut milk from separating. The other ingredients are non-carb preservatives.

Is there an email address or contact phone number (on the label) where customers can call for information?

I just checked the label for my Lite Coconut milk...says 2 carbs for 1/3 cup with 1 sugar. My heavy whipping cream has 0 carbs for 1 TB. I'll have to check the unsweetened coconut milk next time and see what it reads. I guess I could use a drop of coconut extract for a little coconut flavor.

Heavy whipping cream might *say* zero for 1T but of course it's not actually zero. There are about 6g of carbs in a cup of heavy cream. So the carbs can add up quickly. My regular (not Lite) coconut milk has about the saem number of carbs as heavy cream.
