Default BEWARE! Carbs are the new fat

Interesting article in the March edition of UK women's magazine, Marie Claire.

Most of us tuck into a low-fat, high-carb diet, believing it to be good for us. But new thinking suggests that the sugar contained in pasta, bread and potatoes could be the cause of weight gain, erratic periods and even heart problems.

The article is all about Syndrome X and how it can be controlled and cured by a low carb diet. There are a couple of case histories, how PCOS can be helped and also mention of the Zone Diet. Dr Adam Carey and gynaecologist Fred Wadsworth of the Centre for Nutritional Medicine are frequently quoted in favour of low carb, as is Dr Eleanor Kennedy of Diabetes UK.

Hi Demi, well spotted. And it's great to see British Doctors taking a pro Low-Carb stance at last. Let's hope this and the other recently publicised items we have discussed elsewhere are the start of a tiny trickle that will become a massive torrent, sweeping British Public opinion before it on LC matters.

Andy
