Hey IOMW and Renee. Sounds like you guys are having a good summer! Love.

I'll be heading out of town for a "Gathering" up on a lake in the middle of the state where I grew up, which is the same state in which I live today. Anyway there will be a lot of Kiters up there so I'll likely get plenty of good action shots to post next week.

Fluid retention has gone down, back to kind of a normal weight ~195lbs I notice this in my lower legs - So, Quest bars, horsefly bit or too much Snake Juice (changing this to K only as I get so much salt in diet) 3 variables, who knows but I'll stay away from the Quest bars for the weekend and see what my body is like from camping out on Monday, if I make it back alive. You never know, and that's a good thing, not knowing, not really caring, just being.

Breakfast today and a neat shot of a friend doing a transition on kitefoil from heelside to toeside. He's starting to get these dialed in! Aces.

Nice action photo!

Breakfast of champions. How do you make that gloppy stuff on the right? I've seen it before, in another photo you posted, can't remember where.

Have fun at the gathering!

Thanks for the visit ImOnMyWay, was a gathering of ONE up there on the big lake for most of the day. Very light wind so that kind of scared folks off from the big trip. I found enough wind to ride in and have a ball, saw some folks kiting from the campground to the south on the water. They headed up my way after I was done on skis and invited me down. Was fun to hang for a while.

...and the gloppy brown stuff is flaxmeal, to make, add flaxmeal to left over grease and heat just before smoking, add liquid and flavors to make glop, I use water and ACV, sour cream (that makes special magic) and chili sauce and sometimes some salt if it needs it. This is a good way to not waste the fats from 80 percent ground beef or precious coconut oil

Been doing some skateboarding and practicing jibe and tack footwork. Today on the water none of that seemed to translate haha. Also working on transitions in mini half pipe. Having so much fun skateboarding on non-windy days, hoping that I don't injure my body and interrupt the foilboard season and all the learning that's going on there. Can't skate "scared" tho so just have to go for it and accept any injury if it comes. Worth it.

cool local park with huge concrete apron that runs around it for inline and LDP and whatever you want to roll...

Fishing on paddleboard. Got all the way up this river that comes out of a lake up by the power lines. Could go no further. Some nice fish hidden in the reeds/grass but I was thinking to myself the Humphrey Bogart line from the African Queen that went something like... "The one thing in the world I hate, LEECHES. Filthy devils!"

More steak and eggs but no glop

For the record, July was a very good month! Thank You July and Goodbye. You will be remembered fondly.

thanks for the explanation. I'll try it next time I'm cooking meat in a pan.

Glad you had a good time despite the nonshow of your buddies. Made some new friends, sounds like.

You were active almost every day in July!! Great month. Nice work. Play, the best kind of exercise.

I admire your Taoist approach to life.

July was a good month for you. Here’s to more adventures in August. Looks like rain most of the weekend. Take advantage of any sun.

Thanks for the visits Ms π and Renee - I follow your exercise logs as well

Pretty rad August so far, lots of kitefoiling. That's about all I'm doing now except cutting myself, my hair that is. So freeing and better for swimming and it doesn't hurt my eyes when I'm driving around with the windows open.

A friend of ours made some drone footage last Friday when we were foiling on Lake Mille Lacs in MN on the north shore. Decent wind and nice little swell. This is my friend Jerry foiling, he's retired and in great shape! Eats crackers, candy and fruit cups - exact opposite of my current diet. Seems to do fine with it EXCEPT when he runs out of fuel he has to come in and eat something. I can stay out all day and I think it's on account that I can burn fat while doing moderate exercise over extended periods. I'm not saying one is better than the other, they're just different.

John C's movie like at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZIJ5Biy2r4

A shot I took next day from my windsurf foilboard (sitting down - was fun!)

Hair Removal System

Someone commented, "Mr. Clean" - haha bleached out eyebrows for sure

Is Hugh Laurie your brother from another mother?

You men - so easy to go shaved head, eh? Not one leetle tear shed for the loss of your locks. I would probably cry if I had to shave my head. Although it's not as much of a shocking thing for women to do now as it used to be, but we're more likely to be profiled as either a lesbian or undergoing cancer treatment if we go around bald headed. Objects of pity or derision. Not a mainstream fashion choice yet for the femmes.

When I do a long road trip, I like to drive with the windows open, too. I wrap my hair and neck with a long scarf to keep it in check and keep my neck from getting sunburned. Hair ends up getting a bit tangled anyway, and I get some funny looks sometimes in places that are more conservative, like Bakersfield, like people suspect I'm a Muslim because I'm covering my hair. But whatever. I don't explain. Long ago, this used to be a stylish way to drive, like emulating a glamorous movie star in a convertible. Also, gals were protecting their do's, which involved a lot time with curlers and hairspray. And they wore driving gloves.

Your friend is quite skilled at kitefoiling. Fun to watch. I would have bailed after that first lightning strike - maybe he didn't see it as he was so busy with the kite, board and waves.

Wow, just noticed that your weight can fluctuate five pounds in a single day! Interesting.

great job staying active

Someone else mentioned that Hugh Laurie thing once at a convenient store, I think it was too, after I cut off all my hair. Huh.

Yes, since I've been recording my weight the largest swing it can take in 24 hrs is 8lbs. This is a good reason to be super careful in trying to correlate something YOU did yesterday and how it affected your weight. YOU are most likely WRONG and will get a false impression that you are in control of things. This is what I think. YOU being US.

Record, but don't spend any energy on it, or any cause you might imagine, at that moment. Might be useful later but who knows.

Here's a good reason for a hair cut. Long hair uncomfortable in a swamp a few days ago...

Yes, we only have control over what we put in our mouths, not what our bodies do with it. Thanks for the reminder.

Hey, there! I was up on the north shore this weekend. Looked for some kiters but saw none. Did see a few paddle boarding this morning though.

That is certainly a summer look, but do be careful in the sun. A friend of the Hubs who is bald on the regular just had a chunk of skin cancer taken out of his head.

I grow my hair in the summer for the same reason you cut yours. I don’t ’want it in my eyes. It stays in the ponytails and buns so much better when it’s longer. Guess no chance of you sporting a man bun for awhile, eh?

Thanks for the visits ImOnMyWay and Renee! IOMW I checked out your journal, good job on the hair - fun to cut it. I saw the top of my head in one of those self checkout things at a grocery store. I missed a couple spots! Time will fix that with my not interfering ha!

Renee, no man bun but I'm not against them or anything. There's a style that I'm really puzzled about when I see 20-30 something guys with really tight pants that don't quite make it do their ankles, low or no socks with slip on shoes, maybe a tight fitting shirt, quaffed bear and high and tight on the sides and gelled/styled longer hair on top huffing on nicotine vapor machines chatting with a friend on the street. I missed this one! Asked my brother who works with the younger set and he says I spotted a "Hippster" - Ah! I thought hipsters were guys from the 50's with berrets and listening to jazz and jack Karowack or whatever.

You don't stay very current when you spend all your free time on the water or ice with boardshorts and rashgaurd or parka and toque.

Thanks for the sunscreen tip, I'm putting it directly on my hair and scalp. I think that's one reason my hair starts to turn white/blonde from that and sun maybe...

Couple pics and from South Dakota Adventure. SD is a nice place if you like space and few people and sketchy encounters. You're kinda on your own out there Plan for it!

Ah, the Hipster. My young adult kids are friends with a few. One has long blonde curly hair and is often sporting it in a man bun. Nice kid. The tight side long top haircut is actually a vintage 1920’s/30’s style that is coming back in. A younger stylist at the Great Clips the Hubs goes to gave him this cut earlier this summer. He got lots of compliments from his younger co-workers

I hope those two green guys didn’t become food. Looks like they just wanted to go for a ride.

Who knew there was water in SD?!?!?! I certainly didn’t see much of it on my travels across the state. I will agree with you on the sketchy er, interesting encounters.

Have a fun filled week!

Hi Renee and thanks for the visit. Now I can see nothing but hippsters when I walk to work downtown. I'm probably just jelly of the skin tight pants they wear - I'm sure I would be doing the same thing if I was their age, hell, I even had a good mullet going back in the day!

This might sound weird but I was super excited yesterday morning when I stepped on the scale and had "GAINED" 10 lbs from 24 hrs before - It's so interesting to me to see how drastically the body can react to "over use" or extreme activity or "working out" On Saturday (the most abuse) a few of us went out in a wakeboard boat and tried wakefoiling for the first time. It was so fun! But, it involved using a lot of different muscles than I normally use and getting slammed into the water all day. I must have got slammed 20 times. We were out all day doing it.

The next day (Sunday) I went out and skateboarded LDP (Long Distance Pumping) to points of muscle failure going up hills and stuff. The a friend and I kited for awhile. I ate normally both days but drank so much water on Sunday - a thirst that was unusually hard to slake (Pirates of the Caribbean reference there for those that remember it )

I think not peeing and pooping before weighing had something to do with it too.

Short movie I pasted together from some shots take from boat - first timers were getting foil rides on my Green Hulk board:

http://downhaul.com/foil/180818wake...eFoil01-web.mp4

Here I think that maybe I can "run it out" and save myself from a pounding

Crew in boat having good time watching someone else fall off...

...and lastly, big foil I tried out yesterday under kite, worked good. Looks huge!

For the record and I proudly post my 10 lb gain near the end ha!

Too much fun! Glad you had a good time. Amazed at how widely your weight can fluctuate. 10#!

I don't see complaining as arrogant or self-centered. I view whining as tedious and annoying, but complaining is sometimes necessary. Otherwise, you can have people running roughshod all over you. It's only when people start speaking up that abuses come to light and can be corrected. Like pay to play, unethical quid pro quo, workplace sexual harassment, kickbacks, deceptive or false marketing claims... just to name a few. I now feel that I HAVE to speak up when I find out about stuff like this. I "let it slide" for many years, using a variety of justifications. No more. I have to call people out when they abuse; to not do so allows them to keep doing bad things without consequence.
