The sardines aren't for the leaky gut, they're because I'm having antigenic reactions to most of the foods I normally eat, due to the leaky gut. That causes inflammation and all kinds of bad things. So, sardines are a food I normally don't eat. Hopefully concentrating on new foods will lower my inflammation, joint pain, GI distress, etc. So I'm looking for new foods to eat or at least foods I didn't eat very often.

Sardines went down pretty easy this morning! I had ones in spring water. I had to add salt.

Yeah, thanks! I suspect most recipes are going to include things I can't have, like eggs or dairy. I kind of quickly gave up on looking for sardine recipes because of that issue.

I take niacin with a B complex chaser to help with inflammation.

I'll give it a try. I know that niacin can cause liver damage, so I haven't been in a rush to try it.

Well, after a couple of weeks on a novel protein diet, my IBS-D has cleared up a lot. I'm eating lamb this week (YUM!). Bought a lamb roast and stuffed it with black garlic and regular garlic into slots cut into the roast. It is good, but oddly not garlicky enough.

I'm taking LOADS of glutamine. Aloe Vera juice 2x a day. Fish oil, curcumin, D3 with stuff. I think I will take my malabsorption results to my doctor and have him test me too.

Now you might think on such a restrictive diet, I'd lose weight... of course with malabsorption in the 1000's you'd think that too, but nooooo not me!

I'm still eating a bit of dark chocolate and probably too many macadamia nuts. I should give those a miss for a week or two and see how it goes.

I managed to skip breakfast on the weekend.

Just make sure it's not the time-release; that's what causes the liver problems. Chase with a B complex if you wish. And start small.

I now take 2,000 mg a day and no flushing. INCREDIBLE sleep.

It isn't limited to the time released. Long-term, high doses can cause it. Hope you're getting a CBC panel regularly.

Do you take a particular brand that you'd recommend?

Oh, here's a description. I wouldn't call niacin safe, but I guess if you're taking the immediate release sort it isn't too bad.

I take the NOW brand.

From what I researched, the time release and such springs from all sorts of gyrations to keep people from flushing, when it's the flushing that does one good, breaking down histamines and other leftovers from stress.

I took a break for several months when I got sick with shingles, just to keep body stress, if any, low. Back on it again, will see how it goes.

If I don't need it to get great sleep, that's one thing. When I take it and see an improvement in my condition, I figure it is doing me some good.

LOL! Forgot to post the link. I did order some slo-niacin. It sounds like it is a compromise that isn't likely to hurt the liver.

I know you are a good researcher. Make the choice that sounds right for you.

Took 250mg of the Slo-Niacin last night and I did sleep better than I have in a while. Probably coincidence. There wasn't any flush at all. They have you take the 250's for a while, then go up to the 500's.

No gardening yesterday, but I did do some cleaning in the garage and that involved lots of heavy lifting. Not sore today. Yay!

It seems like my cold that never goes away went away finally. Is that because of being dairy free now? Or was I having allergic stuff happening? Either way, it is good not to be trying to snort out phlegm from the back of my throat.

Well dang! Slept like a log again last night. I did get a canker sore yesterday, usually something I associate with gluten, but it could have been from anything I'm intolerant of. Maybe the pork rinds? Pork was one of my least reactionary foods tested.

Today is a pretty good day, body-wise. Much less joint pain. That niacin might be doing some good stuff for me! Yay! Just read I shouldn't take it on an empty stomach... oops.
