Question Counting alcohol when cooked?

Hi

How do we count the glass of wine which goes into the cooking of a meal? ie carbs, calories, etc.

I made a great veal scallopini tonight with a glass of dry white wine and would like to know the amount of carbs I should be counting.

Sue

Hi Sue,

Unfortunately (that's a bad word to start with, isn't it? ) the carb content of alcohol stays the same whether cooked or not. The alcohol is "cooked out" but the carbs are still there. So all you need to do is look up the carbs for the glass of wine.

Mind you, 1 glass of wine in the whole meal wouldn't have done much damage, probably only about 2 carbs. And if the meal was shared, so were the carbs. (Duh!)

I'm sure you enjoyed it, veal scallopini sounds yum!

Angry Alcohol

Thanks Ros

Yeah! it is unfortunate that the carbs still count. Oh well was only 2 carbs and I had been good for the day. It was sooo nice with the almond meal "breading" too.
