Default Fell off the wagon.... Head 1st!

Went away on holiday last week and it all went wrong! I'd been religious on induction for 3 weeks and had shed about 18lbs. Prob half of that gone back on mostly due to cider and bread I think. Feeling a bit glum but restarted induction Monday so with a bit of luck will pick things back up. I'm really craving sweet things though! Any induction friendly treats?

Probably not. The taste of sweet is a trigger in and of itself. (Voice of experience.)

Consider trying a different strong flavor experience, like dill pickle.

Best wishes.

Dr. Atkins suggested sugar-free jello. I'm not so keen on a lot of sweeteners, but a touch of stevia is OK, so you could have fizzy water with a hint of stevia. There are lots of recipes in the recipe section, but you're better to try to limit your consumption of sweet stuff, as it can often spike insulin, making the diet harder and increasing the cravings. Here's the link to the recipe section:

Get back on the wagon matey. The weight will come back off again.

Personally I keep a couple of choc Atkins shakes around for the times I get the choccy/sweet tooth. That works for me, but I don't drink them regularly

You did great for 3 weeks and now you have a learning opportunity from this fall: cider and bread are not for you. Simple as that. If you can eat cleanly long enough your cravings for sweet stuff, and starch stuff, will definitely go. Even a little bit of that crap can derail you, so do yourself a favor and stay away from it now. We all want you to succeed.

I have yet to meet a guy who isn't in favor of "all or nothing." Geez, men, have you never heard of a rheostat? (I kid, I kid.)

But I agree that eating this stuff in moderation is not possible for a while. That is the nature of this beast. So just decide that you'll be strict for a certain amount of time; and see what happens.

Believe me; I'm celebrating my eighth anniversary of low carbing this past month; they don't stop making that stuff. It will be there, later, if you decide you just gotta.

I'm not saying it's OK or even good to 'eat bad' for a day or weekend or whatever, but I have noticed on those occasions when I'm at a conference or some other excuse for eating carbs, that if I get right back on diet the weight I 'put on' from eating bad for a day or two comes off in a few days. I have no science to back me up on this, but my theory is that it has to do with putting on water weight and/or the carb foods taking longer to process through me when my body is in fat burning mode. Not sure on those so nobody flame me if you correct me.

However, I've been doing Atkins this time since last year and what I have found is that when I do go off diet it almost instantly makes me feel like crap. I am really developing a sort of aversion to eating off diet ... I think my habits and/or mind set is finally catching on to carb food equaling feeling bad. Hopefully, anyway.

So get right back on the wagon as soon as you can swing it.

I think the roughly 5 lbs put on with the carb cheat(s) goes away because of something having to do with the stored glucose (from the cheat meal/s) binding with the water. Use the stores, get back into ketosis, and the 5 lbs or so comes off, too. I think someone will come along and clarify the exacts of this, but all is not lost :0) Getting right back on the wagon is all that should matter in my experience. Good luck!
