The doctor actually said that? Wow. Well then, IF you gain the weight back and IF it affects your sleep, the at that time you can reconsider the CPAP, can't you?

Yeah -- I'm kind of torn -- The doctor is pretty insistant that I need a Cpap but the truth is I only had episodes when laying on my back. When on my side I was under 5 which is in the normal range. It's always hard to know what to do. I'm not scared of the Cpap but its really a hassel to go back for another sleep study adjustment. Also its expensive -- I do have a medical sharing program but still. I would have no quams if the reading was high. I'm really getting tired of all this stuff. I'll probaly just get one i guess but I don't think I'll take the med for the rls.

It's your decision, Whited. A low cost solution is what some people do for snoring; add a pocket to the back of their pajamas or something, which can hold an object which reminds you to sleep on your side. Many people use a golf ball or a walnut; it can be anything.

If you sleep well on your side, just make sure you do that and PROBLEM SOLVED.

I once had a doctor insistent on a $5k sleep study (and the 20% I'd be on the hook for is still much too much for me to handle) to get to the bottom of my insomnia and I was all, "Hey, I came to you because I'm sick, let's figure out what I am sick and the sleep will take care of itself." But he wouldn't listen. And I figured out why I was sick and now sleep is really really good.

When all doctors have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.

The doctor is pushing the Cpac because you MIGHT gain the weight back? That's ridiculous! Like my partner's doctor (in the hospital, not his "real" doctor) trying to push him onto diabetes drugs because he MIGHT not be able to do the low carb dieting. Well guess what: he did, and his bg is now normal.
