Talking (Hopefully Not) An Exercise in Futility

I hate exercise. H.A.T.E.-I.T. I don't know why, since I usually feel so much better when I'm done, but I do. It's hard to schedule except either very early in the morning (and I already get up at 5:45!) or after 8-9pm when my girl goes to bed, and by then, frankly I'm wiped out. (Not to mention the dishes that need doing, cleaning, laundry, lunches, etc, etc.)

So, this week what I've been doing is coming in to work a little early, and getting in 20-30 minutes of a walk/jog (a pattern of 2 minutes of each, roughly) Today someone was in as early as I was, though, so I had to go hide in a conference room. (Boy, I can't wait until the nicer weather returns!) I've debated buying a treadmill, but they're huge and I'm not sure I'd use it enough to justify the cost or the space. I have the WATP series and I like them, but again, when?

Anyway, maybe if I start an exercise log it will prompt me to actually... oh, I don't know, exercise!

Did my walk/jog for 25 minutes today. Could have gone longer, but I ran out of time (people coming into the office)

Did Leslie Sansone's Walk and Jog today. About 30 minutes, 2.5 miles. She kicked my butt, but I made it through the whole thing.

Well, it's been a few days since I posted in here...

I have been getting something in every day. Well, except maybe Sunday, when I didn't do anything formal, but did clean the house for 4+ hours.

Some days I just walk 30 minutes. The last few days I've been adding a couple of 2-minute jog intervals in there.

After LS kicked my behind (and I felt it for several days afterward!), I went looking for the 1-2-3 mile WATP DVD I swear I had at one point, and couldn't find it, so last night when I was out I picked up the "Christian-inspired" (who knows what that means in a workout video) version of the 1-2 mile WATP. I was once in the habit of doing the 1-mile before work, and 3 or 4 times a week doing the 2 or 3 mile after work, and I remember that morning one giving me a lot of energy. So, I'm going to switch it up a little and see if I can get up early enough to do it a couple of times a week before work, instead of always walking at the office.

Still, I'm moving, and that's what's important, right?

Didn't exercise yesterday. Walked only for 20 minutes this morning. Feel like "carp".

I managed a walk every day this week. Wednesday and Thursday, just a brisk walk around the building for 20-30 minutes (I'm trying to stay more towards 30, but life often intervenes). Friday and today, I did the 2-mile WATP. Tomorrow I may rest, haven't decided yet.

I took Sunday off from walking. So far this week (Mon-Thurs) I have managed a 30-minute walk at work, and even managed to intersperse some WATP-like movements. I hide in a lab here where no one is around, so I did a couple of minutes of knee lifts, kicks, kick-backs, side-steps... even a little jogging. I think I need to find some consistent walking music, though.

Monday: 1 mile WATP before work
Tuesday: 2 mile WATP before work

Doing the 2 mile this morning didn't tire me out as much as I thought it would. I don't always have that much time, though.

Wow... been awhile since I posted here, hasn't it?

Last week, I was really good about exercising. WATP every single day (except Sunday). This week, not so much. I did WATP 1 mile on Monday and Thursday, 2 mile on Friday, and today I swam for 2 hours. Free swim, so nothing like more than a few laps in a row, but I was wiped out by the end, so I'm counting it as my exercise for today.

I vow to do better. The scale is misbehaving, and I think it's at least in part because I slipped on the exercise this week.

Same thing. Man, Leslie Sansone can be grating first thing in the morning!
