Ketogenic diet may stop migraines by changing the brain’s fuel

Cutting carbs has been shown to prevent migraines, perhaps by changing the type of fuel that enters the brain.

The ketogenic diet is a very low-carb diet that makes the body burn fat for energy instead of carbohydrates. Aside from aiding weight loss, it also seems to ease neurological conditions like epilepsy and schizophrenia in some people.

Keto diet loved by celebrities 'relieves migraines and may be better than drugs at easing the agonising headaches'

  • High-fat, low-carb diet caused sufferers 'three less migraine days a month'
  • Cutting curbs triggers ketosis, causes the body to break down fat
  • Linked to reduced inflammation in the brain and 'waves' that cause aura

Keyword: "celebrities," it's magic and will become mainstream. What a world . . . . .

I’m no celebrity but I haven’t had a migraine since I started LCHF (again) one month ago.

YAY! That's a wonderful result, and so quickly, too.

I never had an aura until I sugar-binged a couple of years ago (after dedicated LCHF). It came on within ~2 hrs of the binge. I'd had eyeball pain before, but never the zig-zaggy red, blue and black stripes that pulsed across my field of vision, but didn't go away when I closed my eyes. Now I know what migraine-sufferers go through, but I haven't had another one since this dramatic warning that sugar is a bad drug.
