Unless you are *very* small in build (five feet all or under, weighing less than 100-110 lbs.), or you have fewer than 10% of your body weight to lose, most people eating low carb (even vegetarians) do NOT need to worry about 'too much' calorie intake at ALL. Losing weight while eating low carb is not all, or even mainly, about 'calories in, calories out.' For more information about this, try this link to a paper recently published in 'Nutrition and Metabolism' on metabolic Syndrome:

And of all the vegetarian protein sources out there, full fat tofu is one of the lowest calorie foods with the least heavily processed or 'extra' ingredients. One-fifth of a block of extra firm tofu, or about 3 oz. of a 16 oz. block, has approximately:
87 calories
5g fat
2g total carbs (1.5g ECC)
0.5g fiber
9g protein
Eat your tofu, if you enjoy it...but definitely don't rule it out as 'too high calorie.'
