I've bought bison directly from local farmers here in saskatchewan many many a time (large orders), and from farmers markets in smaller amounts.
I've seen 100% bison frozen pre formed burgers sold at several Superstores, and extra foods all over saskatchewan and alberta (both the same company as loblaws, westfair foods), as well as at a couple garden market iga's on occasion in my city of saskatoon, sk. Saw some in the safeway in prince albert saskatchewan a while back as well, but havent checked in other safeways in my home area. The co-op in prince albert also sometimes sells bison in limited amounts.
Bison is pretty expensive buying from the grocery store, but when you buy large orders direct from farmers it is WAY less.
I rarely ever eat beef now, because bison just tastes so much better.
I've never seen venison in stores before, I get mine through my dad, as he and my brother are avid hunters.
