Default Stevia with Fiber

I found some stevia with fiber today and bought it for using as a sweetner. After I got home I read the back. One of it's claims is that it helps with intestinal track health and can help candidia. I knew the liquid form was ok, I have a bad habit of using to much though and getting a nasty taste. Hopefully dumping one packet of the powder with fiber in my tea will work better

Hi Ladybelle,

I've not used the packet form of stevia before, but I have used the powdered form that I call pure. If you get too much, it can be bitter as I'm sure you know from the liquid form. I think I would try a half a packet first, then add more if it needs it.

If it helps with yeast, that would be great. Do you know if it is the fiber or the stevia that helps?

It looks like the fiber, I'll quote what the packet says.

"Frutafit Inulin Fiber (FOS) selectively nourished the friendly bacteria (lactobacillus and bififobacteria) in the intestines, thus increasing the number of those good bacteria that will most benifit the body's gastrointestinal functions. Frutafit Inulin Fiber (FOS) provides a powerfull fiber effect but without the required bulk usually found in other fiber products. In fact, just four SteviaPlus Fiber packets contain as much fiber as a bowl of whole grain cereal.

Studies have shown that as these benificial bacteria increase they begin to provide the body with many of the following benifits:

*Improves regularity
*clenses the colon
*Helps produce vitamins
*Assists and strengthens the immune system
*Supports liver health
*Prevents overgrowth of Candida albicans (yeast)
*Helps control the formation of free radicals
*Does not adversly effect blood sugar"

Yes, FOS (fructooligosaccharides) are a type of soluble fiber which promote the growth of friendly bacteria in the intestines. Inulin is derived from chicory roots most often, but also dahlia bulbs. There are other types and sources of FOS .. mostly derived from fruits or sucrose sugar. I've read that inulin in particular helps increase calcium absorption, and some manufacturers of natural organic yogurt are adding inulin to their product.

Just a note ... excess amounts of FOS can cause gas and a slight laxative effect. Of course, I couldn't find anywhere how much is "excess"

Some info. from Life Extension Foundation re FOS ... http://www.lef.org/prod_hp/abstract...accharides.html

Thanks so much. This product looks very interesting. I'll have to see if I can find some and try it.

I have both the powdered Stevia with fiber, and some liquid splenda that says it has the FOS fiber stuff as well. Both are great for cooking and sometimes I even mix them to reduce some of splenda's aftertaste.
What a bonus that they not only DONT feed the yeasty beasties but they actually promote a healthy gut..
