The old cookbooks you and I are looking for dont exist. The time before cookbooks is homemade, every woman cooked, and didnt need a written recipe as it was all in her head. The more I cook, the less I need a recipe and its more of what can I make with what I have. Just as cooks of 150 years ago would do.

As for omega 3 -omega 6, there are a number of studies. It takes supplemental omega 3 about 6 months to show a small positive effect. The study did not include eliminating or reducing omega 6 sources. This was a study listed in Dr Daniel Amen's book HEALING ADD, his specialty.

He also advocates lower carb eating.

Guess it depends on the individuals problems as to what helps the brain, what helps the body.

Another study I heard about with children was measuring pesticides in the urine of children on their regular diet. Then switched to organic foods only. The urinary pesticides was reduced by 50%.

My take away : organic is not good enough, but a start.

I steam my cauliflower and some fluids drip into the water below - I wonder if that helps.
