Wink A newbie with a couple questions

Hi I'm new. I have a couple questions. I was wondering if any one has a low carb recipe for BBQ sauce? or what do you suggest for spices on your steaks. Does any one now about chewing gum? The sugar free type. Is it ok to have some of that while on this Dr.Atkin diet. or is there hidden sugar in that. Please help me.

Hi there and welcome to the forum! I'm not sure about that low carb BBQ sauce, but you could check the recipes forum. What I like to do instead of BBQ for pork is to marinate it in equal parts hot sauce and vinegar, then cook it long and slow in the marinade juice. As for spices on steaks, I usually use some prime rib and roast seasoning that I get at my local grocery store. You can always experiment with different herbs and spices to find a flavor that you like. Watch out for gum! Even the sugar free varieties have an average of 1-2 grams of carb per piece. It may not sound like much, but it adds up quickly.

I have used the Atkins bbq sauce. Not bad at all, but use it sparingly, as it has Splenda in it.

Thanks for the tip on the BBQ sauce. I've tried the Atkins steak sauce and the Atkins teriyaki sauce (both not bad), but hadn't seen the BBQ sauce yet. I do use them sparingly since they have artificial sweeteners in them. The steak sauce did make a mean meatloaf, though.
