Default The Secret to Low Carb Success

Just wanted to let everyone know that I found this book at Barnes & Nobel in paperback form for only $7. Sorry I can't remember in which forum I saw it recommended.

Default Secrets of Low Carb Success

In reading the Turtles forum, I came across this book which gives an excellent overview of low carb diets and all the stumbling blocks while on it. I found it very helpful and she has many good suggestions for overcoming plateaus and just all around good information that I found very beneficial, i.e. hidden carbs, etc.

I think the book is THe secret to low carb success by Laura Richard. I read about it in this forum to. It compares low carb diets and gives tips on low carbing.

That is an EXCELLENT book. One to buy and keep to reference!

So is HOW I GAVE UP LOW FAT DIETING AND LOST 40 POUNDS by Dana Carpenter. Both those books were worth their "weight" in gold!

Not sure what a Turtle is and why there's a club?? I'm sure the info is here somewhere?

The book is by Laura Richards. An excellent book.

I'm lucky enough to be on another BB where Laura sometimes comes in and posts for us and talks to us.

That BB is the Low Carb Diet Support group, http://www.voy.com/15668/

If anyone is interested she has a website also thats pretty informative with lots of research, etc etc. Her website is www.lowcarbsuccess.net

A turtle is someone who is a "slow" loser. I think of myself as a slow looser but with an average loss of just over a pound a week for a year, I'd say it's in question. That's not really that slow.

Anyway, the reason for the Turtle thread is that it's a place where slow losers support each other.

I have checked this book out at the local library and it does a good job of comparing the various LC diets. It hav a few thing in it that I hadn't gleaned from reading the diet book. (I'm refering to having read the Carb Addict's Life Plan. and my interpitation and this author's)
If you want to look before you buy I do suggest you utilize your library, Then purchase the book if you want a permenant reference.

Thumbs up Marlaine!

From what I read a pound a week is the PERFECT weight loss!

it stays off better..is more likely to be a bigger percentage of FAT versus muscle..
I think your being a turtle is in serious question..
IMHO

I know I'm a turtle. I started Atkins 7/16 and by 9/15 had lost 8 pounds. Not bad, you say....well for some reason I gained back 3 and couldn't shake them. Two weeks ago I switched to CALP and lost 1/2 pound last week. Maybe I'll have lost 1 pound this week, but even if I do...I still have 2 more to go to get back to my 8-pound loss. Good grief!

I've been very good and do not cheat.
