Default anti-depressants and weight loss?

I've been taking Paxil for over a year and I LOVE the effects...I'm so much more calm, and less depressed. But I've been trying to lose weight and haven't been very successful.

Am I just doomed until I get off these meds or is there some way I can compensate and be able to lose weight while still taking them?

Anyone with any advise or experiance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hey! I have wondered the same thing! I take Zoloft and have for many many years! with great results. Except I am having a problem losing weight. Could it be the zoloft? i hope not because I need it! churchsec

if it works that well for you, personally, i wouldn't go off it but rather look for diet alternativs that will work with your medications. i've seen firsthand the wreck of a life lack of proper medication can result in and then, if you go off and need to get back on, it can take so long to get relief. what you have to decide is, is it worth the risk to you.

I take zoloft and have been slowly losing weight too. I cut out the sugar alcohols and began to loose weight. Sugar alcohols are in the atkins bars, shakes, lc ice cream....All the lc junkfood (which I love)......Last year I lost 10lbs quick on atkins and i was on zoloft then too. This year has been a different story...just dont give up..the weight will come off....Slowly is better than not at all

I feel I am truly in turtle mode, I have not budged at all for a good 3 weeks now. I started taking Paxil, and Xanax around this past December. I too love the calming effects, and lessened anxiety. I feel especially frustrated, because prior to starting these meds, I had a terrible time sticking with this WOE before, and it took me almost 9 months to get back on track. Now that I feel I can have better control this time around, the scale is just stuck. I was so convinced my scale was broken, I tossed it out, and went out and bought a new one. I think this one is just lying.
