Day 19 of 90

OK day yesterday. < 10 carbs from Greek yogurt & eggs. Starting this week I dropped all SF sweeteners - not just the artificial ones. Lets see how "sweet free" goes for a while. The plain, full fat yogurt was less yummy w/o the Truvia packet - but perhaps more satisfying. The only issue yesterday was my evening meal(s), eating before and after my workout. I don't know if it was too much food or not. I need to track. I'm thinking to limit my food choices to things that I can easily log. Maybe I'll do that for the 2nd 30 days of this challenge.

Day 8 of 90

1. 64 oz of plain water - Did not track but pretty sure I got my water in for the day plus a pint cup of herbal tea.

2. Tracking - Macros good. I've decided to bump up the fat and calories to accommodate the hunger I've been feeling lately. The scale was kind to me this morning, down a pound, so I'm sure this is fine. We'll see.

Target: 35 NC (50-60 total), 1700 calories, 115 g fat, 120 g protein.
Actual: 35.8 NC (51.8 total), 1721 calories, 115 g fat, 121 g protein.

3. Minimize dairy - The usual butter, half and half, and Carb Smart.

I miss my yogurt but can feel a difference since I cut it out. My ears, nose and throat are much clearer now and the ear and sinus aches are gone. I need to remember that the next time I try to rationalize my way back into eating lots of dairy on a regular basis.

Default Day 2 of 5 this week - 90 days ends Apr 8

1. No cheats - on plan food only. To aid with this I am taking a small notepad with me and when I see something I think I will throw in my mouth I am going to write it down instead. This is daily. Day 42. Nothing on notepad today - went to pick up a job application form from Family Services, brought pork rinds, Atkins shake and cheese cubes with me, didn't even eat any of it.

2. 30 min exercise 5 X a week. 30 min dancing to Pandora

3. Clean SOMETHING. Or sort, organize, etc. 15 min + 5 X a week. I think we have mouse 2 getting braver - time for the cat to go to work!

4. Open mail right away, keep on top of finances. Doing what I can.

For what it's worth, I found the plain OUI brand (French yogurt) is really good without any additions to it... I thought it was delicious.

Day 9 of 90

1. 64 oz of plain water - I'm bad at tracking water. It's like every time I pour a glass I have to run to the computer, log on and track it. Ugh. I start out with a pint in the morning and am vigilant about filling the cup a few times. Good enough.

2. Tracking - Macros good.

Target: 35 NC (50-60 total), 1700 calories, 115 g fat, 120 g protein.
Actual: 34.8 NC (45.8 total), 1629 calories, 107 g fat, 121 g protein.

3. Minimize dairy - The usual butter, half and half, and Carb Smart. Instead of a cheese snack, I had an ounce of Genoa salami.

Day 20 of 90

Another OP day. Skipping lunch on weekdays has become normal and effortless again. I need to skip the occasional breakfast and get those IFs in.

I avoided yogurt for a long time. It is purported to be a healthy choice, yet most all of it is either zero fat and/or loaded with sugar. Until recently my nearby grocery stores had zero good options. My daughter, who is back into LC with me, found the Fage 5% fat that I am now having. Made with milk and cultures. 7 carbs per cup and it is very thick. I've been whipping up a couple of tablespoons of HWC and plopping in about 2/3 of a cup of yogurt. Of course it is better sweetened, but that tends to be my problem. I am less likely to overdo (have seconds) without the sweetness. I do enjoy it -- just not so much. Thanks for the tip. I'll be on the lookout for OUI brand and maybe give that a try.

Ken and Kat, have you tried or considered making your own yogurt? You can make it out of HWC and it's fabulous. Insanely thick and creamy, and surely much lower carb than store-bought. I haven't done it in a while, because the grocery store where I bought the starter (YoGourmet) stopped selling it... also because I lost the bowl part of my yogurt maker when I moved. But I've also made it started with store-bought yogurt and it works just fine. You just have to find a brand that has active live cultures and no gelatin. (If any Canadians are following along here, Astro Balkan Style is what I use.)

Barb and Jess - nice going so far. Barb, lots of folks have noticed that about dairy. I only seem to get it with ice cream or something like that; a massive dose at once. Cream in my coffee, a splash in soup, modest portions of cheese, etc seems okay for me.

Day 21 of 90

Good OP day yesterday. I ate plenty, ran a 5K at the Y in good time, and I was pleased with the scale number this morning. No breakfast. IF today.

Yes I have considered it. But that's about as far as it has gone. I hadn't thought about the boost in fat content by using HWC, though. That would make it a much more keto friendly option. I'll check out.

Near as I can tell I don't seem to have any issues with dairy -- except perhaps ice cream or any other sweetened form. But that has more to do with the sweet - not the dairy. Dairy does have some carbs, so I'm glad that it is something that I tend not to over consume.

Day 9 of 90

1. 64 oz of plain water - Had two pints of herbal tea yesterday in addition to plain water. I'm going to include the herbal tea in my daily water count as it's only water infused with peppermint leaves.

2. Tracking - Macros are good. Weight spiked up to 207.8 last week after a saucy restaurant meal (never having that again!) but has settled back down to normal over the course of this week.

Target: 35 NC (50-60 total), 1700 calories, 115 g fat, 120 g protein.
Actual: 31.4 NC (46.4 total), 1698 calories, 111 g fat, 128 g protein.

3. Minimize dairy - Usual butter and half and half. Bought So Delicious Unsweetened organic coconut beverage. I'm going to have it in my coffee instead of half and half at least some of the time and see how that goes.
