Default How long before fasting bg went down for you?

Firstly I was asked to move my thread here and I don't know how to get rid of the first one. Sorry for the duplicate.

All I want to know is for you, how long did it take for your fasting bg to go down?

I was at 154 fbg this morning. Honestly I haven't been checking often so I don't have much of a baseline and I'm not real worried. I will check my regular bg during the day today and tomorrow to see if they are better.

Some stats, I'm 43, female, Type 2, no meds. I get between 20 - 30 carbs a day. I do not count total carbs but net carbs. But I mostly eat meat and veggies (salads, cucumbers the occasional tomato, broccoli and cauliflower). I've been in ketosis as indicated by the strips and by the taste in my mouth. I'm not in induction anymore so I do eat cheese but try to limit the amount. Cheese can add up the carbs after all.

Haven't lost pounds but seem to be losing inches and I have measured today so I'll know for sure, those numbers are in my journal.

But I'm not looking for tweaks. I'm just interested in hearing about how long it took for them to go down a little. It's only been 3 weeks I don't see a reason for me to panic about it yet.

2-3 weeks for me, but my results can be different from yours since i do Dr. Richard Bernstein's plan.

I am a 44(43 when I started) year old type 2 diabetic no meds when I started his plan.

I was waking up to 140s in the morning.

My FBG and BGs normalized to prediabetic levels in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

Thanks lovinita, it's been only 3 weeks and I'm getting ready to read Dr. Bernstein's book since I'm kind of more interested in getting my numbers under control than losing weight, that will come second.

There's no doubt they are better but not in the normal range yet.

My fasting started coming down drastically (was close to or over 300) after about 2-3 days. It continued to come down quickly. I think it took a month to get my BG's down under 100 with about 10-15 units of Lantus, but I started having little crashes so I quit the Lantus. I had a bit higher readings (120's?) while my body adjusted and I continued working on the insulin resistance through diet, but by 6-8 weeks (can't remember), I was consistently around 90.
Even my fasting was under 100.

Some, including me, have noted that very low carb diets result in higher FBGs.

Lorelai -

Thanks for asking this question. I dropped the Metformin just over a week ago & thought all was fine until this weekend. My FBG went up, which alarmed me (I'm easy to alarm!) & I was feeling discouraged. Now I know I just have to keep plugging along and eventually my numbers should drop. Got to remember that I'm the tortoise, not the hare!
