Hi, the Atkins diet worked for me when I was in my 20s. Now that I have entered my 50s and have diabetes, it isn't working. Help. I've already regained the few pounds I had lost.

Holly I've been doing ok. Yesterday's carbs were a little high, about 28 but I'm keeping the calories respectable and avoiding all that food I shouldn't have been eating. Today I'm at 19 carbs and 1500 calories so I've got a string going.

Holly,

I don't have aol IM, but I sure do appreciate your words of encouragement and support!!

I have been scared straight. I checked my blood sugar (after avoiding it for a few days...ok like a week). It was higher than I ever expected it, YIKES!! So today, i've been on induction so far at 11:36 am, have had 5 carbs. Here I go again!

Thanks Marie, Holly!!

I'm hanging in there. Thanks for the encouragement. I certainly want to continue with the weight loss, but I guess the ultimate goal is to get and stay healthy!

Talking As it Should be..........

I think the majority of us here want to be healthy as our main motivator, I mean everyone wants to ook better, but as my main motivator, I know if I loose weight I will regulate my body, my thyroid wont be sucha huge issue. and I will be able to do the activites I like without being winded!

Joe keep it up be strong, and you'll do fine, when you get the urge to eat somethine crappy drink water go for a walk, come here eat a few peperoni whatever.....

No problem JoeMama, we are all in the same boat. I am in it for the health first and the looks second. After I will automatically get healthy first before I start looking good. And mr surgeon may have to help me in the end, but I will deal when I get there. And I hear you Holly about the thyroid not being such a big issue as we get healthier, I would like to see my script go down instead of up!

I've been away from the computer for a few days, I've stayed true to the no cheats until July 4 but it hasn't budged the scale at all. I was really hoping to see a loss. My body just likes being at this weight. Can't get a loss no matter what I do.

our bodies do get stuck, try lowering your carbs, or increasing your fat sometimes that helps.

have you cut the yogurt and PB?

I know we are missing a few aren't we Holly? I hope they are well too. Don't worry fishie48 it will move. Stay confident and look at it this way if you didn't cheat you haven't gained your probably just in a little stall, try Holly's suggestion it may work. By the way Holly thank you, I like that, I am doing "stellar" , makes me feel good!
