Default New here, but not to LC'ing...

Hi everyone! Thought I would stop in here and say hello to everyone, while browsing this fantastic site! A friend of mine sent me the URL yesterday, as she is now a member and is in day four of LC'ing (hi, Wenderwoman!). I came here yesterday to support her, and found myself spending awhile reading stories, and exploring the site. This morning, I got online and found myself drawn back to this site, so here I am posting my intro...
My name is Brenda (Golowcarb), and I have been living a lowcarb lifestyle since October 1999. I am 41 years old, and have six children; three left at home, with the youngest being five years old. I work full time at a casino as an Assistant Gaming Supervisor, and part time as a bookkeeper at a local garage. I am currently married. (More on that another time...)
I would like to say that it has been totally lowcarb since October 1999, but like everyone else, I have jumped off the lowcarb bandwagon many times, and binged on high carb foods. But the great thing about lowcarbing is the ability to pick myself up and start over, WITHOUT beating myself up and feeling guilty! When I began lowcarbing, I weighed 287 pounds, and wore a size 28. Today I am 158 pounds, and wear a size 12. I still have about thirty more pounds to go, but know that I will eventually get there! I never thought that I would ever lose all that weight! I had tried many different diets throughout my life, but had never found one that I could stick with or succeed at, until I found lowcarbing.
Anyways, there is a short (well, sort of....) introduction. I am currently revamping my website, but still have my photos on it. I haven't posted a current photo, hope to do that in the near future. The most current one there is from my year mark. The URL is http://golowcarb.homestead.com/photos.html
Hope to get to know everyone here soon.....this is a great site!

Thanks, Tamarian, and Trace, for the welcome! Tamarian, I wish that it were 130, alas, it is only 129...that elusive one pound has been haunting me for three months now! I can't break that stall, Trace, that I have been stuck in for the past three months. I am still losing in measurements, so I am not worried about it.

Trace, what are you eating? And, are you exercising? When I am stalled, I try adding more carbs for awhile, decreasing carbs, adding more fat, decreasing fat intake....well, you get the picture! I play with it until I start losing again. The past three months, though, I have been kind of lazy, not really worrying about it, having many other things in my life to worry about. But I am back to my journalling, and tracking my carb intake for awhile.
As far as what I eat....hmmmm...I pretty much Keep It Simple most of the time! I try not to eat commercially prepared lowcarb foods, although, occasionally, I do buy carb bars...my favs are Metabolift and Carb Solutions, but try not to indulge in these on a regular basis. I don't have time for elaborate recipes, occasionally I indulge, and prepare a new recipe, but not too often. Yesterday, I prepared a different omelet as I was in the mood for something different and sweet. I used cream cheese, Splenda, and blueberries for the filler. It was quite delicious and satisfied my sweet craving.
Exercising has always been my downfall....I don't exercise as regularly as I should. But I am working on that.....

Thumbs up Hi Brenda - and Welcome

Love hearing good +ve case histories like yours. Yes particularly the bit about jumping off the wagon. Identify with that bit most.

You'd think I wouldn't even ever want to look at things (carbs) that brought me very close to the edge of the cliff. I understand, keep off them for weeks and still when the opportunity presents itself can't resist checking to see if I'm still addicted!

Even when I've got past it it doesn't take long to get re-addicted again. .... but I'm yapping ... and straying.

Good to hear your success story. Wish you luck in losing that last pound.

Default *WAVING MADLY*!!!

Hi Brenda!!! I should pop into this section more often, I almost missed your introduction!

I'm so impressed with the progress you've made so far! I did see your site several months back, but I'd forgotten about those pics - what a drastic difference in you! They're even more powerful to me now that I'm lowcarbing myself.

And people, I just have to say that that last pic on Brenda's site doesn't do her justice! I just met her in person for the first time earlier this week, and she looks even more fantastic.

You are my hero Brenda, LOL. So glad to see you here and posting, this forum is addictive, isn't it? The people here are so great and supportive, I'm so glad I found them.

Hugs,
Wendy

Thanks for posting the URL for your pictures....what an inspiration. I am always the roving photographer in my family - I've never liked having my picture taken even when I was thin but especially not now. Thanks again, Donna
