Default "Kids First, Diabetes Second" means glucose control is last, Dr. Bernstein warns

This is a January 23rd, 2023 Youtube video, and it features a father of a Type I child who used his physics training to team up with Dr. Bernstein.

They Are KILLING Type 1 Diabetics | Dr. Shawn Baker & Dr. R.D. Dikeman

There's a saying, and now a book: Kids First, Diabetes Second. Parents are thrilled this book "makes it understandable" and most importantly, they don't have to change their child's diet.

Or, as Dr. Dikeman thinks, they don't want to. He says at one point, "If you ever wondered about the powerful pull of processed food addiction, look at how diabetes associations use it to keep people eating cheap carbs and covering with insulin."

It's apparently psychologically scarring for a child to not share ice cream and birthday cake, and eat fast food like their friends do. The standard of care is failing our children in ways we should know much better.

So, he's helped Dr. Bernstein create a diabetes education teaching system for parents.
