Default My User CP "New Subscribed Threads" link....

.... is not showing all my "New Subscribed Threads."

That is, when I click on User CP, sometimes page says: New Subscribed Threads: (0), but when I click on the View all Subscribed Threads link, I usually see quite a few new posts that I have not yet read.

This is also true when I go to the threads in various subforums (LC Research, General LC, etc)... none of the new posts are bolded, yet I haven't read them yet.

What's up with that? This makes ALC look like it's a dying site!

Have those new posts happened in the time since your last visit? Because unread posts are only bolded, and your subscribed threads will only appear in your User CP if those posts have appeared since your last visit.

I think the ALCF is far from dying.

I think it might happen if your cookie is corrupted somehow. You could try clearing your cookies, or if your browser is smart enough and you want to take the time to figure out how, you might be able to delete it individually.

Yes, all new links are not being bolded even though I have not been on the site since last time I signed off. However, subsequent posts that appear after I log on to ALC again do show up as bolded. But stop again as soon as I log off.

I signed off last night around 7pm, and the new posts that occurred between logging off and on again this morning either do not appear at all (on my User CP) or appear as unbolded (on various forums), making it look like no activity has occurred anywhere since logging off: "Hmmm, no new posts anywhere! Where is everyone?? ALC is dying!"

Actually, this has been going on for quite a while, ever since the first crashing of the site (sometime last year?). It's only today that it's aggravated me enough to ask about it.

My New Subscribed Threads is working correctly in my user CP.

If you're subscribed to *this* thread, is it showing up on the New list? What happens when you refresh/reload the page?

New posts do show up as bolded after I've logged in, but not between logging out the previous night and in the next morning.

If others aren't having the same problem, then it must be my computer... maybe a problem with the cookies, as Nancy suggests?

All I can offer is that my subscribed posts seem to be working correctly. Any posts I've posted on show up when I log in, but if no new activity occurs between when I leave and come back again, then it doesn't show up. It's worked that way ever since I've been a member.

This happened to me also in the past week or so. Same thing that happened last year. I changed my email address and its fixed, for now.
You can also try toggling the button for that in your 'options' to see if it will fix it.

Sometimes e-mails sent automatically by message boards end up in the recipient's spam folders. If this is what's happening, it can usually be stopped by putting the e-mail address from which the board's e-mails originate in your e-mail program's address book.

Well, I've erased the cookies on my computer and am still having problems with no bolding of new items (whether on User CP or forums) between log-off and log-on next day. I'm not on email alert like Judy and Becky, so that's not an issue.

Guess I have to live with it?
