Just upload them in each gallery (before, during after) and it will tag them on your profile automatically.

The thread I found says you can only attach a link, but I have seen others put the actual picture in their posts.

Hi. You put [*img] tags around the image location, like this: [*img]http://forum.lowcarber.org/images/ranks/stk3.gif[*/img] Minus the asterisks. It looks like this:

If you have an account on photobucket.com or a similar site, it'll generate the img link for you, and you can just copy it and paste it.

I did this with a photo I got from Google Images, but it only shows up as a question mark inside a box. What did I do wrong?

It's hard to say without knowing the location of the photo. My guess is that either the url of the photo is incorrect, or the remote site disabled hotlinking.
