What kind of sauerkraut - is it a Trader Joe's brand? I started eating this - going to try it with my liver.

Since the packaging is identical to the Wild Brine products, http://wildbrine.com/products/ appears TJ contracted with them to put the TJ label on unique flavors. The TJ sauerkraut includes Pickled Persian Cucumbers, there is also a Spicy Pickled Vegetables mix which makes a good addition to salads, and a Kimchi.
TJ fans make a sport of guessing which manufacturer produces various TJ products, but this one is a slam dunk

First trip to Trader Joe's; got some Kale pesto, Trader Joe's full fat greek yogurt, and a couple jars of kimchee. Kind of expensive place. Took a look at the Okra chips - man that's a lot of carbs in one serving (19g total, not net) - I passed. Meant to look for some (sushi) seaweed with good ingredients but didn't get a chance.

Was reading somewhere that they traditionally have very poor parking situations - no worries at this place.

I love the okra crisps- yes 19 carbs total, but 11 are fiber.

Gazpacho- ooh, this is good! One serving is 10 oz with 80 kcal, 9 net carbs plus 2 fiber. It's a little spicy (which I love). Perfect in this heat!

My TJ has almost no parking and I have an SUV so I'm willing to go off road if need be, but no go. Twice I've given up and left

I looked at those Okra too, read the carbs and put it back ..because I would want lots of them

The okra crisps are a one bag one serving deal. They also are extremely filling, because they take so long to, ahem, break down
For 8 net carbs, they are a steal IMO.

TJ's frozen crabcakes: these come in a box of two. Each is just 90 calories, 13g protein and 3 carbs. So, the downside is that either you will need two or another protein. These are pretty good and I'm pretty snobby about my crabcakes- I 've been in maryland or DC nearly my entire life, so we take crab very seriously! They do take longer to cook than package suggests, and I liked finishing them under broiler to get that nice Browning effect.
Would i purchase again? Yes, they are a handy freezer item for those "what to make nights." BUT, make sure to have another protein to round it out. I recommend their frozen Argentinean shrimp.

Thanks, I’ll check them out, headed there when it opens at 8.
TJ's also has refrigerated cleaned crab meat, add egg or mayo, Bay seasoning, and a little almond meal or pork rind, sautée in pan. DH is not a seafood fan, and it was expensive, but now I want a crab cake

Edit, back from TJ's. The second ingredient is soybean oil mayo, so I passed but they do look good. Our store no longer carries the fresh crab pieces, only a can, but right next to these crab cakes was frozen crab meat pieces, $8.99 for 8 Oz.

I love Trader Joe's and I go there all the time. The parking really is atrocious though. Still, no worse than the parking at Costco. The last few times I fell victim to road rage were in a Costco parking lot.

TJ is where I usually buy my coffee. I also love their crispbreads. They have a chicken liver pâté covered in aspic that is just amazing. You can't find a pâté that doesn't have pork in it anywhere else in my area. I do eat pork, but I like this product better.

Last time I was there I bought a frozen lobster entrée, and also a bottle of sriracha. They have kosher chicken and beef, if that is your preference.

I love their blister peanuts. Best peanuts I've ever eaten.

You must be my twin in the West coast I picked up that pate and the GF crispbread yesterday, love the sriracha and blister peanuts too. To avoid road rage at my two favorite stores, I go early (and often!) The official Costco open time is 10am, but I go near 9:30, buy gas, then as long as a basic group of employees is in place, our store will open at 9:45 ish.

That is a great tip, Janet! I'll try it next time I go on a run for toilet paper and cleaning products. Mostly what I buy at Costco are non-perishable items and gas. The quantities are just insane for meat products, dairy, vegetables etc, and I don't have a stand-alone freezer.

I just have a side by side freezer, counter depth even, so not much space but the organic ground beef in a 3 pack stacks well, and we cook two steaks, freeze the remaining ones wrapped individually. I almost always get a rotisserie chicken for $4.99, eat once, pull the rest off bones for salads and store in fridge Tupperware. With only two of us, know what you mean about the sizes of some things, but somehow I shop a lot at Costco too. Between Costco and Trader Joe's I haven’t stepped into a "regular" grocer in ages.

Speaking of Costco, one of the things I've purchased there I've found really handy: Kabnet Wax by Dixie. This is a relatively small box (comes in a package of two) of individual sheets of waxed paper. I keep it in a drawer in my kitchen and use it a LOT, especially in the microwave. Presumably this is biodegradable, whereas plastic wrap is NOT. Trying to reduce my use of plastic and just say NO when I can... which is almost impossible at TJ. I was really shocked at how much plastic TJ has in its stores: except for a few produce items, almost everything is wrapped in plastic. I understand why manufacturers do this, but ... plastic waste disposal is a real problem, globally, and its finding its way into aquatic life (and our food supply).

It's not just TJ's that has almost every product (except loose produce) wrapped in plastic. My local grocery stores, from Whole Foods to all Kroger outfits, does the same. Even potatoes or onions come in plastic bags. They could easily come in string or burlap bags instead, which is how it used to be before plastic became ubiquitous in this country.

Thanks for that waxed paper tip! That is all I use in the microwave so I keep all wrap rolls in the cabinet right above it, but individual sheets would make it easier.
