What clever ideas, all of them..

Salami is still reasonable.

and I have a market here that has several different kinds of hard sausage I could nuke!!

Wow! how clever!

Can't wait.

Ice - read labels. If it doesn't have a label, don't buy it. Shop around - and make a pain the as* of yourself (the part that is rapidly disappearing on me!) to get the information you want. I've been known to be obnoxious at the service deli and make them hand me an unopened loaf of salami or pepperoni so I can read the carb info on the label. Pick the brand that has the lowest carbs. I think I most recently bought Armour, and it has a tiny bit of sugar, but the overall carbs is like 2 per 16 pieces. I found that acceptable!

Default Cheese chips

Hi
I have tried this method for cheese crisps using kraft slices and it just isn't happening for me. In the microwav they are either like rubber or burnt, what is your experience?
thanks in advance

Default Are you using real cheese?

ccml, over here in the U.S. "Kraft slices" means "processed cheese food", which is rumored to have real cheese in it, but I regard that as an unproven claim.

Do your "Kraft slices" claim to be cheese and nothing but (no added vegetable oil, dextrose, etc)? If not, I would try the cheese crisps with some good honest English cheddar instead of the Kraft "cheese food".

I am eating these now. I had heard of these and googled "pepperoni crisps" and this forum came up. They are very crunchy and delicious.

I love pepperoni, but I've become so sodium sensitive I swell up like a pig when I eat it. I tried the pepperoni chips when I first started Atkins in '09 and just loved the taste and crunch, but I gained weight from water retention eating them. Would have to take my rings off the next day my fingers would swell up so. I can't even put much pepperoni on my pizza anymore due to the salt sensitivity.

Just made these. Burned the first batch beyond recognition in the oven, even though I followed the original recipe to the letter, so thought I'd nuke them instead. The microwave was making a really frightening noise halfway through, so I took 'em out - they were okay, but rubbery, and not at all crispy. Tried again with the oven, but only at 180°C and kept checking in on them. Finally took 'em out, because I was afraid they were going to be burnt again - they're good, but not crispy. I'll keep trying, because this seems like such a good snack idea.
