Default First time Tabata

Did Tabata this morning, for the first time. couldn't last past the 3rd set. simple collapsed on the floor LOL.

I was doing Thrusters, 5kg dumbell per arm. Is it too heavy?

Should i be trying it with an even lighter weight?

Or should i continue using 5kg dumbells, but maintain doing it until collapse, rather than try to strive for full 8 sets?

All inputs welcomed

I wanna lose my last bits of bodyfat and get some muscles

I would drop down to 3k. Do as many sets as you can and finish all 8 sets even if you have to drop the 3k and pick up a 1 halfway through.

Did Tabata again this morning but with a 5kg barbell, and instead of only doing thrusters, i rotated between squats, military presses and bent-over rows.

Is it considered cheating? I read that Tabata was originally meant to be done using one single type of exercise only.

I managed to complete 8 sets, I didn't feel like dying or collapsing, unlike what i read i was "supposed" to feel....however, within an hour, DOMS set in, and i felt totally wasted. Is this how it's supposed to be? Or was i supposed to collapse immediately?

All inputs greatly appreciated. Cheers.
